Control Resonant: How to Solve the Blinking Square Black Screen Puzzle

At one point in Control Resonant you get dropped onto a fully black screen with nothing but a single blinking white square. There is no prompt and no obvious exit. The square is a cursor you control, and moving it the right way turns the whole thing into a short text puzzle that ends with the phrase “WAKE UP DYLAN” before the screen glitches away.

Quick answer: Hold the left stick right to spell “HELLO WORLD”, then move through the floating binary to grab the letters Y, L, A, and N in that order to build DYLAN, and steer the name into the red outline next to “WAKE UP”.

Type HELLO WORLD with the blinking square

Hold the left analog stick toward the right. The blinking square marks your cursor; as it moves across the screen, it automatically prints text along its path.

Keep going right until the line reads “HELLO WORLD”. Once the full phrase appears, the puzzle shifts into its next stage on its own.

Collect Y, L, A, and N in order

After “WORLD” is written, control passes to the letter “D”. The screen fills with floating zeros and ones, and four letters are scattered among them.

Move the “D” around the binary field and touch the letters in a set sequence. Grab Y first, then L, then A, and finally N.

Each letter you touch attaches to the chain you are steering, so the string grows toward the name DYLAN as you go.

Align DYLAN next to WAKE UP

With all four letters collected, the chain now spells DYLAN. Find the “WAKE UP” text on screen, where a red outline of the word “DYLAN” marks the target spot beside it.

Steer your letter string directly into that red outline so the two parts line up and read “WAKE UP DYLAN”.

How you know it worked

When the name snaps into the outline, the full phrase “WAKE UP DYLAN” locks into place on the black screen. The text then glitches out, which ends the sequence and returns you to normal gameplay.
