Control Resonant: The Last Taxi West Incursion Zone Puzzle Solution

In most playthroughs, Dylan boards the West Incursion Zone’s anomalous taxi first during Control Resonant’s The Last Taxi side story. The ride sends him into a fogbound street that loops back on itself, where a phone conversation and erratic streetlights determine which cab takes him closer to the caller in trouble. You need to identify the right taxi in all three rounds.

Quick answer: After answering the payphone, enter the taxi under the flashing streetlight, then the taxi under the only steady (non-flashing) streetlight, then the taxi under the light that blinks out of sync with the rest.

Reach the West Incursion Zone taxi behind the Empire cinema

You’ll find the cab in a small lot behind the Empire cinema, close to Empire Avenue Station, along the way to the Theater and the West Incursion Zone Resonant. Patterning has twisted the local layout, leaving the taxi on a surface beyond the reach of ordinary movement. First obtain the Shift gravity ability during The Incursion Fault mission.

Go to the Empire cinema, near the subway entrance you use to get to the Theater. The parking lot is behind the cinema, off the path you take to reach it.

Activate Shift to alter gravity and pull yourself up to the parking level. The changed layout can leave the taxi positioned overhead.

When the cab isn’t in sight, use its horn to locate it. The sound leads you to the vehicle, even if it’s parked on a surface you’re not standing on.

Boarding the taxi draws Dylan into the threshold: a version of the city covered in yellow fog. The streets reset into repeating loops until you select the right vehicle in each round.

Answer the payphone before the taxis do anything

The cabs are inert until you take Mila’s call. From the main road, turn into the side alley to the left and follow the ringing to the green payphone booth. The taxi choices only start counting once this conversation ends, so this step is mandatory every time you enter a threshold.

During the call, select Just stay in one place. This settles the conversation with Mila and connects to the threshold’s movement theme.

West Incursion Zone streetlight puzzle solution

Once you’re back on the main road, pay attention to the streetlights above the taxis, not to the cars. The vehicles themselves don’t matter; each round has one lamp that breaks the pattern. Pause for two or three full light cycles before choosing, since the unusual one becomes clear as you watch.

Find the taxi under the streetlight that is blinking in the usual pattern while the area is otherwise still. Enter it to advance to the next loop.

In the second loop, compare every streetlight. While the rest blink, one lamp stays lit without flashing. Board the taxi beneath that steady light.

Pay attention to the blinking pattern this round, not whether a light is lit. Spot the streetlight flashing out of rhythm with the others and get into the taxi below it. The right cab could be just to your right when the round begins.

How to confirm each correct taxi and finish the threshold

A correct choice triggers a brief scene in which the traffic signal gains an additional green light. Take that as confirmation before the next loop begins. Choose the wrong taxi and the signal turns red; the round stays active, so you can check the lamps again without losing progress.

After your third correct choice, the objective changes and Dylan leaves the threshold, appearing on an elevated walkway with the Theater below. This signals that the West Incursion Zone taxi is complete.

Why your puzzle may look different

Across New York, The Last Taxi features seven puzzle varieties, with no variety assigned to a permanent location. In a standard run, the West Incursion Zone cab uses the streetlight sequence described above, but another puzzle may appear there in your game. Each puzzle type has a consistent answer wherever you encounter it: when the lamps flash, then hold steady, then go out of sync, follow that order to solve it.
