New Designs is a faction quest in Crimson Desert that hands Kliff a crafting blueprint instead of a fight. The whole first objective comes down to reaching one artisan and hearing him out, after which the recipe for a Small Kuku A.T.A.G. lands in your inventory.
Quick answer: Travel to the quest marker where Demeniss, Gorthak, and Delesyia meet, walk down to Marek by the wooden ramp, and finish his dialogue to receive the Small Kuku A.T.A.G. Design.
Marek’s location in Crimson Desert
Open the world map and look for the red cross and question mark sitting near the point where the borders of Demeniss, Gorthak, and Delesyia converge. Dewhaven sits nearby as a useful reference point if you are scanning the map by region labels rather than markers.
Once you close the map, a yellow waypoint appears on the minimap and in the world itself. It points down a raised wooden platform toward a large wooden ramp structure. Marek stands at the base of it, and his name tag is visible well before you get close enough to interact.

How to confirm the objective cleared
When the talk ends, the quest tracker updates on screen under Faction Quests with “Talk to Marek” struck through as complete. At the same moment you receive an acquisition notice for the Small Kuku A.T.A.G. Design. If neither appears, you exited the conversation early, so speak to Marek again.

The blueprint itself is filed as Marek’s note. To read it, open your inventory, switch to the Others tab, select Documents, and open the entry. That page lists everything the build needs and is worth reading before you head out.

Small Kuku A.T.A.G. materials list
Marek’s note breaks the machine down into four components. Nothing here is optional, and the quantities are fixed.
| Material | Amount | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Kuku pot | 1 | Frame and chassis |
| Abyss cell | 1 | Main power source |
| Cogwheel | 5 | Drives the internal mechanism |
| Small battery | 5 | Steady energy supply |
Where to get the Abyss cell, cogwheels, and batteries
Marek spells out two of the three sourcing problems for you, which saves a lot of wandering.
- Abyss cell: Marek already picked one up near a strange device in the woods and stored it in the materials warehouse next to his workshop. Take it from there rather than hunting for your own.
- Cogwheels and small batteries: Both turn up in the heaps of broken Mechatanks scattered nearby. Digging through those wrecks yields usable parts in quantity.
Pull the Abyss cell out of the warehouse first. It is the only single-unit part with a fixed location, so clearing it early leaves you free to scavenge the Mechatank piles in one uninterrupted sweep.
With the design in hand and the parts list confirmed, the quest shifts from talking to collecting. The scrap heaps around the workshop cover ten of the twelve items you need, and the warehouse covers one more, so the Small Kuku A.T.A.G. build is largely a matter of a short gathering loop rather than a long detour.
