Patrick is a bounty target in Crimson Desert, located in the Pailune region, an area that only opens up late in the main story after you liberate the city. He’s a drunk pickpocket, and unlike tougher bounties such as Blix, capturing Patrick requires no combat at all. He’s essentially passed out when you find him.
Quick answer: Pick up Patrick’s bounty poster in Pailune, travel to the marked location in the southern part of the city, tackle him, punch him until the tie-up prompt appears, then carry him to the Pailune jail for 4 Coins.

Prerequisites for the Patrick Bounty
Bounties in Crimson Desert don’t become available until you reach Chapter 2 of the main story. You’ll need to complete Chapter 1, which includes meeting White Crow the Witch and unlocking the flight skill, then return to Hernand City. Patrick’s bounty specifically requires even more progress than that — the Pailune region must be liberated before you can access bounties there. If you haven’t reached Pailune yet, continue pushing through the main questline until the region opens up.

Like all bounty bills in Crimson Desert, Patrick’s poster spawns randomly on bulletin boards and poles throughout the city of Pailune. Look for the purple icon on your mini-map, which indicates a nearby bounty bill or side quest. The poster locations aren’t fixed, so you may need to check several spots around town before you find the one for Patrick. Once you interact with the poster, read it to learn about the target and get a map marker pointing to his location.

Delivering Patrick to the Pailune jail

You’ll know the bounty is complete when the cutscene finishes and the bounty entry clears from your journal.

What happens if you accidentally kill Patrick
Bringing a bounty target back alive always pays the full reward. If you kill the target instead, you receive a reduced payout — roughly half. To collect even the reduced bounty on a dead target, you need to carry the corpse back to the constabulary. Sheathe your weapon, use your lantern to highlight the body, and the option to pick it up should appear. On PC, pressing CTRL (or LB on controller) near the body lets you carry it. Load the corpse onto your horse and ride it back to the jail just as you would a living target.
Since Patrick doesn’t fight back, accidentally killing him is unlikely unless you use a weapon. Stick to fists and the tackle-to-tie-up sequence, and you’ll collect the full 4 Coins without any issues.
General bounty capture controls
Patrick is a freebie, but the capture mechanics are worth understanding for harder bounties down the line. Here’s a quick reference for the tackle and tie-up inputs across platforms.
| Action | PlayStation | Xbox | Keyboard + Mouse |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tackle (non-combat) | X | A | Crouch (C), then F + LMB |
| Tackle (mid-combat) | Crouch (L3), then △ + ○ | Crouch (L3), then Y + B | Force Palm (middle mouse), Crouch (C), then F + LMB |
| Tie up | Prompt appears after punching stunned target | Same | Same |
| Carry body | Target + carry button | Target + carry button | CTRL near body |
For hostile bounties that immediately aggro, the mid-combat method is essential. Use Force Palm to stagger the target, quickly enter crouch, then execute the tackle input. You cannot be locked onto the enemy when attempting this — untarget them first, or the input will default to a throw instead of a tackle.

Patrick is about as straightforward as bounties get in Crimson Desert. The real challenge is simply reaching Pailune in the first place. Once you’re there, the whole process takes under five minutes, and the 4 Coins are easy money toward your next upgrade or purchase.
