The release date, platforms, free update details, soundtrack, and Chapter 6 progress from Toby Fox’s newsletter.

Deltarune Chapter 5, subtitled Festival Day, is out. Toby Fox confirmed the details across two newsletters, then sent a final note once the chapter went live. Here is what was actually announced, from the launch timing to how the update reaches your game.

Quick answer: Chapter 5 launched simultaneously worldwide on June 24, 2026 at 11:00am EDT as a free update. If you already own the paid version of Deltarune, it updates automatically — no extra purchase needed.

Deltarune Chapter 5 release date and platforms

The release date announcement set a single global launch time rather than staggered regional rollouts. A countdown ran on the official site ahead of the drop, and the chapter went live exactly when promised.

How to get Chapter 5 (free update)

There is nothing to buy separately. Chapter 5 arrives as part of the existing game for anyone who owns the paid version, and the update applies automatically on each platform.

Confirm you own the full, paid version of Deltarune. The free demo (Chapters 1 and 2) does not include the newer chapters.
Let the game update. Owners receive Chapter 5 automatically through the platform’s normal update process, so launching the game after the update downloads is enough.
If you buy the paid game after launch, Chapter 5 is already included at no additional cost. You know it worked when Chapter 5 appears as a selectable entry on the Chapter Select screen.

The announcement trailer

The reveal trailer was deliberately restrained, holding back the chapter’s biggest moments to avoid spoiling first-time players. It was edited by Everdraed, with trailer music performed and arranged by Carlos “insaneintherain” Eiene and end art by Temmie.

Soundtrack and music credits

The Chapter 5 soundtrack is available on Toby Fox’s Bandcamp page. One word of warning carried in the newsletter: avoid reading the track names until you have finished the chapter, since several titles double as spoilers.

This time, more contributors worked on the music alongside Toby Fox, so the credits are worth checking once you are done.

Reporting crashes and progression bugs

If the game crashes or you hit a point where you cannot continue, the team asked players to send an email reporting the issue. Known problems are posted at the top of the official help page at deltarune.com/help, which is the place to check before assuming a bug is unique to your save.

Note: A progression block means you literally cannot move forward, not simply a tough fight. Those hard-stop cases are the ones worth reporting.

Chapter 6 progress update

The newsletter also shared where the next chapter stands. Chapter 6 is described as developing well, and notably easier to make than the previous ones, which is keeping the pace fast.

AreaStatus
Cutscenes and NPC interactionsMaking good progress
Overworld gameplayAll basic gimmicks built; a few more rooms still to make
Normal enemies and bulletsMostly complete
Boss and bulletsWorking on the bullets for the final battle

The update went further, saying it is not unrealistic that some staff could begin work on Chapter 7 before the end of the year. No release date for Chapter 6 has been confirmed.

To recap the part that matters most: Chapter 5 is already live on every supported platform, it costs nothing for existing owners, and it installs automatically. If you want each future update straight from the source, you can subscribe through the official Undertale and Deltarune newsletter.
