Diablo 4 Season 15: How to Craft the Zephyr Runeword

Combine a white Bow or Crossbow with an Ort and Eth Rune in the Horadric Cube to make this Rogue-focused unique.

Combine a white Bow or Crossbow with an Ort and Eth Rune in the Horadric Cube to make this Rogue-focused unique.

In Diablo 4 Season 15, Zephyr is a unique hidden Runeword for Rogues that focuses on Dodge and Lucky Hits. You make it rather than find it as loot, using a plain white ranged weapon and two specified Runes. It has Bow and Crossbow versions, and both carry exactly the same stats.

Quick answer: To make Zephyr, put a Common (white) Bow or Crossbow and an Ort Rune and an Eth Rune in the Horadric Cube, then press Transmute.

What you need before crafting Zephyr

The recipe has only two moving parts: the right base weapon and the two matching Runes. The base decides which weapon type you end up with, and the Runes trigger the Runeword conversion inside the Horadric Cube.

  • A Common (white) Bow or Crossbow. The item does not need sockets or affixes.
  • One Ort Rune and one Eth Rune. Order does not matter in the Cube.
  • Access to the Horadric Cube.

The Runes you need drop across the world, and Waking Nightmare encounters are a reliable source for the ones these recipes call for. Zephyr is only usable by the Rogue, since the Bow and Crossbow bases are Rogue weapons.

Use an Ancestral white base if you can find one. An Ancestral Bow or Crossbow produces an Ancestral Zephyr, and the item power of the base determines how high the unique’s stats roll.

How to craft Zephyr in the Horadric Cube

Gather a Common Bow or Crossbow along with your Ort and Eth Runes. Pick a Bow if you want the Bow variant, or a Crossbow for the Crossbow variant. The stats are identical, so this is purely a matter of preference.
Open the Horadric Cube and place the white weapon inside with both Runes. When the ingredients are correct, the recipe preview shows as “???” instead of naming the result.
Press Transmute. The base weapon converts into the Zephyr unique with its fixed set of affixes and the Dust Devil power. Seeing the finished unique appear in place of your white base confirms the craft worked.

If you need a Normal Ancestral base and only have rare or legendary gear, you can strip an item’s affixes down to Normal rarity first, then run the Runeword recipe. Because Zephyr cannot be tempered, the roll you get on transmute is what you keep.

Zephyr stats and the Dust Devil power

Both the Bow and Crossbow versions carry the same affixes and the same Aspect. The values scale with the item power of your base, so a higher-power Ancestral craft pushes every number upward.

AffixValue
All Damage Multiplierx62.5% and up
Attack Speed+12.5% and up
Movement Speed+12.5% and up
Dodge Chance12.5% and up
Lucky Hit LightningUp to 40% chance to deal +1,500 and up

On top-end Ancestral bases these figures climb sharply, reaching around x125% All Damage Multiplier, +25% Attack Speed, +25% Movement Speed, 25% Dodge Chance, and a Lucky Hit lightning proc in the 3,000 to 4,000 range. That scaling is why Zephyr stays relevant as you push toward the endgame.

Zephyr carries the Dust Devil Aspect. Each time you Dodge, a tornado appears, damaging nearby enemies and causing them to take increased damage from you.

Why Zephyr fits a Rogue build

The Rogue is built around Dodge and Lucky Hits, and Zephyr feeds both directly. The extra Dodge Chance triggers the Dust Devil more often, while the large flat Lightning damage on Lucky Hit adds up quickly against packs. The Attack Speed, Movement Speed, and All Damage Multiplier round it out as a strong overall DPS weapon.

The bigger draw is availability. Rather than farming for a specific best-in-slot drop, you can assemble Zephyr the moment you have the two Runes and a suitable white base. That combination of solid affixes and a craft-on-demand recipe makes it an easy pickup for any Rogue working through Season 15.
