In Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dark Arisen introduces five augments unlike those in the base game. You cannot obtain any of them with discipline at a Vocation Guild, and vocation rank does not unlock them. Each comes from a book whose title is “Treatise on” followed by the augment’s name; any Arisen can read any of these books, whatever their current vocation.
Quick answer: Study the treatise for each augment, then purchase the Augmentum Scriptura from Dwayne for 20 Norgan Ducats to expand your augment capacity to seven.
The five new augments and what each does
The five additions are Advertence, Fortuity, Generosity, Lupinity and Proficiency.
| Augment | Effect | Learned from |
|---|---|---|
| Advertence | Displays on the minimap items dropped by enemies you have already encountered | |
| Fortuity | Chance of extra gold from chests and the like, and a chance to take meat from certain monsters and animals | |
| Generosity | Health and Stamina recovery items are partly shared with nearby pawns | |
| Lupinity | When the hound accompanies you, jumping and dashing use 0.4 times the usual Stamina. | |
| Proficiency | The highest-level version of a weapon skill uses less Stamina; this effect partially stacks with Zeal. |
Each treatise weighs 0.1 kg and sells for 300 G. A treatise confers knowledge of its augment to any Arisen, so you can read it on whichever vocation you happen to be running.

Two of the treatises are quest rewards in the Forsaken Dominion. Both quests list the treatise on one of two possible reward lines, alongside an alternative reward.
Treatise on Lupinity — A Hound and His Bone
The side quest A Hound and His Bone, which becomes available after A Direwolf Delicacy, can reward you with the Treatise on Lupinity. You help find Skoll, one of Freki’s pups, who has not returned from his latest jaunt outside the village. Completing the quest grants 60,000 XP and Alpine Hare Meat, as well as either the Treatise on Lupinity or a Hound’s Scent Pouch.

Treatise on Proficiency — A Keepsake, for Your Sake
The side quest A Keepsake, for Your Sake becomes available after Reunion. It starts by consulting Polyeidus about the tremor to the north. On completion, you receive 80,000 XP, 3,000 RC, and either the Treatise on Proficiency or Norgan Ducat x10.

The treatises for Advertence, Fortuity and Generosity are learned the same way, by reading the matching book, once you come across each one.
How to unlock a seventh augment slot
Every character normally equips up to six augments at once. The Augmentum Scriptura raises that cap to seven. It applies to the Arisen and to the Arisen’s main pawn, so both get the extra slot from a single purchase.
You buy the Augmentum Scriptura from Dwayne at the Norgandian Inn for 20 Norgan Ducats, listed under his “Trade Norgan Ducats” rare trade menu. After the trade, the Skills and augments screen shows a seventh slot you can fill.
Where Norgan Ducats come from
- Appraising spoils with Jiera in the Norgandian Settlement, as set up in Relics of the Past.
- Examining rubble and sparkling spots scattered around Norgan.
- Defeating several enemies in the region.
- Buying them from the merchant Aymond at 10,000 G each, with one in stock at a time.
Dwayne’s rare trade list runs from a Ring of Virtue at 1 Ducat up to a Wisdom Corset or Girdle of Sagacity at 90, so it is worth saving Ducats for the Augmentum Scriptura rather than spending them on the cheaper rings if the seventh slot is your goal.
