A Glimpse Of Eternity is the Alchemist’s tomb quest in Enshrouded, and the whole chain takes place in the Veilwater Basin. You read the wizard’s note in each of five tombs in order, then return to the Alchemist for Eternal Fireball II and 200 XP.
Quick answer: Start at the Hidden Tomb north-east of Yearfall’s Brew Farm. Each note gives the next clue. After the fifth note, talk to the Alchemist to finish.
How to start A Glimpse Of Eternity
Talk to the Alchemist at your base. He describes a mad wizard who tried to make a spell for eternal life and did his work in hidden tombs. Once you’ve spoken to him, the first journal entry notes that the Alchemist “told you about a mad wizard obsessed with creating a spell for eternal life”.
The quest then unfolds as a chain of discoveries: each tomb contains one of the wizard’s notes, and reading it reveals the next tomb’s location in your journal. Notes 2, 3, 4, and 5 each unlock an Eternal spell recipe from the Alchemist. The surrounding areas get more dangerous as you progress, from around level 37 near the first tombs to about level 45 near the last. Choose your gear accordingly.

Tomb 1: The Hidden Tomb
The journal asks you to “Uncover The Secrets Of The Hidden Tomb”, and this one is already marked on your map. It sits about 140 m north-east of Yearfall’s Brew Farm and about 170 m north-west of Old Hag’s Hut. The closest Flame Shrine is about 300 m east. Tomb 2: Southwest of Gateway Outpost “Darkwater”
The clue reads “From the water, I cross Gateway Outpost “Darkwater” and venture into the jungle”. Head about 300 m south-west of Gateway Outpost “Darkwater” and look for the tomb below ground. The nearest Flame Shrine is about 320 m south-east. The note here, Ashes Of Eternity, teaches the Eternal Fireball II recipe.
Tomb 3: East of Goldrock Saddle
Next, the journal points to “a hidden tomb behind the great tower in the lake, close to Goldrock Saddle”. Go about 300 m east of Goldrock Saddle to a Scavenger Camp. Tomb 4: South of the Mining Rift
The fourth clue sends you “close to the Mining Rift towards the Blackmire”. The tomb looks like a maze but is really a long tunnel. Follow it to its southern end, about 800 m south of the Mining Rift, where you’ll find Fast As Lightning. It teaches the Eternal Arc Lightning I recipe. The nearest Flame Shrine is about 300 m south-east.
Tomb 5: Northeast of Stillwater Bay
The last clue says “near Stillwater Bay towards the foot of the hills”. The tomb is about 420 m north-east of Stillwater Bay and about 210 m south-east of Drak’Dal Temple. This one is the farthest from fast travel, with the nearest Flame Shrine about 700 m east. Read Frozen Eternity to learn the Eternal Ice Bolt III recipe.
The clues also tell the wizard’s story in sequence. First comes the fireball, then a heal beam “that grants life to others, not himself”, then a lightning spell, and finally an ice bolt he hoped to freeze himself with.

Eternal spells consume no Spell Charges. Equip one and use Mana from a Staff to cast it. The channeling spells are Heal Beam and Arc Lightning; hold the button to continue casting them. Arc Lightning also inflicts Stamina Damage, filling an enemy’s Stun Bar, while Ice Bolt slows its target. For a staff to cast them with, see the wands and staves list.
How to finish A Glimpse Of Eternity
After you read Frozen Eternity, the journal switches to “Go back to the Alchemist and tell him about your findings”. Return to your base and talk to the Alchemist. The quest completes and pays out Eternal Fireball II and 200 XP. The Alchemist’s other quests are in the all quests list.
