Bones come from killing animals and skeletons and looting their bodies. They cannot be crafted, so every Bone you own is pulled off a corpse, a skeleton’s bone pile, or a coffin. The item carries the description “Possessing magical properties, bones of the dead are often used in alchemy.”
Quick answer: Kill a wild animal or a Hollow skeleton, walk to the body, and loot it. Bones appear in the pickup panel.
Loot your first Bones from a wild animal

For bigger stacks, move on to skeletons. Hollow Damned and Hollow Summoners turn up in every region and gather in large numbers inside Hollow Halls.
