Animal Fur is a common crafting resource in Enshrouded that you collect by hunting. Its item text reads: “Warm and comfortable during yearfall. A versatile resource that is very common and can be used for many things.” You feed it into base upgrades, early gear, and the first steps toward Leather.

Quick answer: At your base, have the Hunter combine 1 String with 3 Fur Patch to craft 1 Animal Fur. For a direct supply, defeat Vukah, Sabertooths, Boars, Scavengers, Direwolves, or a Scavenger Tyrant, then approach the corpse and loot it.

Loot Animal Fur from kills

To gather Fur through hunting, choose a ground suited to your region, defeat its enemies, and take the drops from their corpses. Vukah camps and Scavenger groups in the Springlands offer reliable sources.

Choose a place to hunt. You’ll find Vukah primarily across the Nomad Highlands, Blackmire, and Springlands; travel to one of these regions and look for a camp or roaming group.
After defeating the animal or enemy, approach its corpse. The pickup panel lists Animal Fur alongside any meat or Bones carried by the kill.

Also search corpses already present in the world. In the Kindlewastes, Albaneve Summits, and Veilwater Basin, use the “E Loot” prompt to loot Scavenger bodies lying on the ground.

Which enemies drop Animal Fur

Sabertooths appear in the Nomad Highlands, and Boars appear in Blackmire and Revelwood. The Vukah Brawler drops 8 Animal Fur per kill.

Craft Animal Fur at the Hunter

Once the Hunter is set up at your base, you can make Animal Fur instead of hunting for it. The recipe uses 1 String and 3 Fur Patch (or 3 Wet Boot) to produce 1 Animal Fur.

Fur Patch drops from every Rat and Bat. Rats give 1 Fur Patch, and Bats give 1 to 3. Clearing them as you explore builds up a spare stock you can convert whenever you need more fur.

What Animal Fur is used for

Animal Fur feeds a mix of base upgrades, early tools, and gear. Here is where it goes and how much each recipe takes.

  • Flame Altar upgrade from level 1 to 2: 5 Animal Fur, with 5 Resin, 5 Penny Bun, 5 Bones, 5 Shroud Liquid, and 1 Spark.
  • At the Workbench, craft a Glider from 8 Shroud Wood, 2 Animal Fur, 2 String, and 2 Shroud Spores.
  • The Workbench recipe for a Crude Wooden Bed calls for 4 Animal Fur, 4 String, 4 Wood Logs, and 1 Crude Mattress.
  • Water Pouch by hand: 1 Animal Fur.
  • Combine 1 Animal Fur with 3 Salt at the Drying Rack to get 1 Dried Fur, which begins the process of making Leather.

The Fur armor set at the Blacksmith also leans on it, alongside String, Torn Cloth, and Metal Scraps. The Fur Hood needs 1, Fur Boots need 1, Fur Trousers need 2, and the Fur Chest needs 3 Animal Fur.
