How to Get Resin in Enshrouded 1.0

Chop trees and loot the log piles, or farm Vukah, to stock Resin for torches, furniture, and fire spells.

Resin is a crafting material in Enshrouded that you gather rather than build. It comes bundled with the wood you pull from felled trees, and it also drops from the Vukah. You cannot craft it; trees, Vukah, and locked material chests can provide it. Its item description reads: “This protective juice of trees has many functions. First and foremost, serving the cause of the trees!”

Quick answer: Use an Axe to fell a tree, then search the log pile left behind. It yields Wood Logs and frequently 1 or 2 Resin. A Vukah has roughly a 33% chance of dropping 1 to 3 Resin.

Get Resin by chopping trees

Trees are the steadiest source. You need an Axe before you can harvest, and the first Axe is made from Twigs, Stone, and String. String is made from Plant Fiber. You can pick up Twigs near your first Flame Altar and turn Plant Fiber into String to finish the tool.

Make an Axe, equip it, and head to a group of trees close to your Flame Altar.
Hold the attack on the trunk until the tree falls. The on-screen prompt reads “Cut tree”.

The fallen tree breaks into a pile of logs. Walk up to the pile and press E (Loot). The pickup list shows your Wood Logs along with any Resin, such as “Resin x2”.

Continue at another tree, repeating the process. Because some log piles contain no Resin, harvest an entire grove in one outing to collect a dependable supply.

Farm Resin from Vukah

Vukah provide another way to get Resin. On defeat, each variety has roughly 33% odds of yielding 1 to 3 Resin. Fallen Vukah bodies in the Nomad Highlands, Springlands, Kindlewastes and Blackmire can be looted for Resin, and locked material chests can also hold Resin.

  • Vukah, Vukah Ranger, Vukah Bonehunter, and Vukah Bonebreaker each drop 1 to 3 Resin at about a 33% chance.
  • Their main habitats are the Nomad Highlands and Blackmire.
  • Some camps also sit in the Springlands.

You can check camp placements and region borders on the interactive map before you set out.

What Resin is used for

Resin feeds 89 recipes in total, most of them Carpenter furniture. The first big early use is the Flame Altar upgrade from level 1 to 2, which takes 5 Resin together with 5 Penny Bun, 5 Bones, 5 Shroud Liquid, 5 Animal Fur and 1 Spark. The Resin Torch is made at the Hunter from 1 Twigs, 1 Torn Cloth, and 1 Resin, while the Wax Torch adds 1 Wax on top. If you have not met the Hunter yet, you can find the Hunter in the Ancient Vault.
