Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get the Rake and Advanced Rake (Recipes and Unlock)

Both rake recipes, what unlocks each one, and how the Advanced Rake compares to the basic version.

Both rake recipes, what unlocks each one, and how the Advanced Rake compares to the basic version.

In Enshrouded 1.0, make the Rake at a Workbench using 6 Wood Logs, 2 String and 2 Stone. Take it to the Blacksmith and use 2 Metal Scraps and 1 Charcoal to turn it into the Advanced Rake. This tool reshapes land into even surfaces suitable for building. The game has just two rake types.

Quick answer: Reach player level 5, or place a Flame Altar and learn a pickaxe and an axe. Then craft the Rake at the Workbench and upgrade it at the Blacksmith once the Carpenter is rescued.

How to get the Rake

The Rake is a basic tool, and you can get it early. Its item text sums up the job it does:

“A rake made of the simplest materials. A basic tool used to flatten the ground for upcoming construction works.”

Learn the recipe. It becomes available after you place a Flame Altar and learn both a pickaxe and an axe, or when you reach player level 5—whichever happens first. The tools can be any tier, from the basic Pickaxe and Axe through the Iron versions.
Gather the materials. You need 6 Wood Logs, 2 String and 2 Stone for one Rake.

Go to the Workbench and craft the Rake. One set of materials makes one Rake, and it goes into your inventory ready to flatten ground.

If the Rake doesn’t appear in the Workbench menu yet, you haven’t met either unlock condition. Leveling up to 5 is the fallback route if you haven’t set up the Flame Altar and both tools.

How to unlock and craft the Advanced Rake

The Advanced Rake is an upgrade of the Rake, not a separate recipe built from scratch. Its item text explains what the upgrade does:

“A Rake enhanced with scrap metal to increase its durability and speed. A decent tool to level hilly ground.”

Rescue the Carpenter. This is the first half of the unlock condition.
Pick up Metal Scraps. The recipe appears once the Carpenter is rescued and you have picked up this material. You need 2 Metal Scraps for the upgrade.

Make sure the Blacksmith is at your base. The Advanced Rake is crafted with the Blacksmith, not at the Workbench.
Craft the Advanced Rake at the Blacksmith from 1 Rake, 2 Metal Scraps and 1 Charcoal. You get one Advanced Rake.

The recipe uses up your Rake, so craft one at the Workbench before you visit the Blacksmith.

Rake vs Advanced Rake

The upgrade doubles durability and halves stamina cost. Here is how the two rakes compare:

The Advanced Rake works more quickly, as its description indicates. Using either rake wears down its durability, but both can be repaired. Because the Advanced Rake lasts longer, you need to repair it less often while leveling broad stretches of hilly ground.
