Fossilized Bone is mined with a pickaxe from the giant fossils in the dry grassland of the Nomad Highlands. Its description reads: “Over the years, untouched by anyone, the bones of all kind of magical creatures have hardened and turned to stone.”
Quick answer: In the Nomad Highlands, approach the foot of a giant fossil, take out a pickaxe, and break the rock. Fossilized Bone will show up in your pickup list.
Mine Fossilized Bone in the Nomad Highlands
The fossils are hard to miss. They rise out of the dry grass as huge, curving arches of pale stone, and a single one yields more than one pickup if you keep working it.
As you mine, the pickup list along the screen’s left edge confirms the result by displaying Fossilized Bone.
What Fossilized Bone is used for
Fossilized Bone is used in 33 recipes, including a large number of items for the Blacksmith and Hunter. Its biggest single requirement is the Flame Altar upgrade from level 4 to 5, which needs 20 Fossilized Bone as well as a long list of other materials.

You can mill Fossilized Bone into dust: one bone yields 5 Fossilized Bone Dust at the Mill, while the Grinding Stones produce 3 dust. The Farmer can also turn 2 Fossilized Bone and 3 Mycelium into 100 Mycelium.
