Iconic Droids are the standout units in Droid Tycoon. Unlike the standard roster, they don’t follow a normal income curve. Each one generates a flat 15% per second and carries a single unique perk that changes how your base performs. There are currently nine of them, and the roster grows as new events arrive.
Quick answer: Unlock an Iconic Droid by completing the main objective in its limited-time weekend event, or buy it later from the Iconic Droids tab in the Nova Shop behind the Cantina for 30 to 75 Nova Crystals.

All nine Iconic Droids and their perks
Every Iconic Droid slots into one of the three base types (Worker, Astromech, or Battle) and grants a perk that applies while it’s placed. Here is the full list with what each one does.
| Droid | Type | Perk |
|---|---|---|
| BB-8 | Astro | Doubles your Upgrade Chip pickups |
| Mister Bones | Battle | Doubles your damage |
| IG-11 Marshal | Battle | Grants a Blueprint shield |
| DJ-R3X | Worker | Doubles your world quest rewards |
| CB-23 | Astro | Unlocks a secret Astromech mission |
| R2-D2 | Astro | Increases Astromech mission speed by 15 percent |
| Chopper | Astro | Increases critical hit chance by 50 percent |
| C-3PO | Worker | Doubles the Credits earned from selling Droids |
| D-O | Worker | Halves total fusion time |
Note: Because every Iconic Droid produces the same flat 15% per second, the perk is what decides which one is most valuable to you. BB-8 speeds up your upgrade grind, D-O cuts fusion waits in half, and Mister Bones doubles combat damage for event objectives.

Add to Google Preferences →Unlock an Iconic Droid through its event
The primary way to earn an Iconic Droid is by taking part in a special limited-time event. There is almost always one running from Saturday to Sunday, and these events are usually built around a single Iconic Droid.

You’ll know it worked when the Droid appears in your collection and can be placed into a base slot. If you miss the window, the Droid isn’t lost forever. You can still buy it later with Nova Crystals.
Buy Iconic Droids with Nova Crystals
If you skipped an event, the Nova Shop is your backup. Head behind the Cantina, open the shop, and select the Iconic Droids tab. Prices range from 30 to 75 Nova Crystals depending on the Droid.
| Droid | Nova Crystal cost |
|---|---|
| BB-8 | 30 |
| Mister Bones | 30 |
| IG-11 Marshal | 30 |
| DJ-R3X | 30 |
| Chopper | 30 |
| D-O | 30 |
| R2-D2 | 60 |
| C-3PO | 60 |
| CB-23 | 75 |
Nova Crystals are earned by completing certain daily quests, which give one crystal each, and by triggering a Super Rebirth, which pays out a much larger amount that scales with your Rebirth level. Because crystals are slow to accumulate, most players save them for the Iconic Droids they missed rather than the ones still available through events.

Get Iconic Droids back after a Super Rebirth
A Super Rebirth wipes your entire Droid collection, Iconic units included. You never permanently lose them, though. There is a dedicated Reclaim Iconic Droids Shop behind the Cantina where you can restore any Iconic Droid you previously owned.
Visit that shop after a Super Rebirth and reclaim your Droids. You do not need to re-earn them through events or spend Nova Crystals a second time. Once reclaimed, they return to your collection ready to place.
With your Iconic lineup secured, the perks stack neatly into the rest of your progression. BB-8 accelerates chip farming, D-O trims fusion times, and DJ-R3X boosts quest payouts, so pairing the right Droid with your current goal is where these units earn their keep.
