The Deluxe Edition Upgrade for RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a cosmetic and decorative pack, not a power boost. Everything inside is either a craftable alternative to gear you can already make in Ashenfall or a placeable object for your base, and Jagex has been blunt about the trade-off: the armour matches existing in-game stats, and the Old School RuneScape helmets are side-grades rather than upgrades.

Quick answer: The upgrade unlocks 23 items across five groups — the four-piece Gilded Paladin set, six Med Helms, four dragon head wall mounts, ten paintings, and two animated pet beds.

Gilded Paladin armour set and cape

The set covers the Gilded Paladin Helmet, Chestpiece, Legs, and Cape, finished in gold plating with green cloth detailing and an ornate gold-patterned cape. All four pieces are crafted rather than granted, and they arrive at Power Level 4, which puts them on par with the Level 4 armour you would otherwise make at the Armour Bench.

Wearing the full set fills the Class Bonus 3/3 counter, which activates three effects tied to blocking and staggering:

  • +25% block stamina cost
  • +50% crit chance after blocking
  • +25% damage to staggered targets

Six Old School RuneScape Med Helms

The six Med Helms are the nostalgia play. They use the same low-poly silhouette across the board, separated only by colour palette and the tier they belong to, so you can wear a Bronze Med Helm early and keep swapping upward as your materials improve. They exist as alternatives to the standard helmet at each material tier, which means you get the aura gain without giving up stats.

Upgrading Deluxe gear with Ascension Cores

Gilded Paladin pieces are not locked to the tier they spawn at. They upgrade the same way Vestiges do, using Ascension Cores earned through normal play and through the Nightmare Crucible in Umbral Sands. That keeps the set viable well past the point where Level 4 armour would normally be retired, and it is the reason the gear can be treated as a genuine wardrobe option instead of a starter costume.

Nothing in the pack gives you an early stat advantage. The gear is balanced against equipment that already exists in Ashenfall.

Four dragon head wall mounts

Each trophy is a large mounted head that you build and hang on a wall in your base. They sit well on plain stone, and two of them are lit from inside, with glowing red eyes that read clearly in a dim hall.

  • Green Lesser Dragon
  • Blue Lesser Dragon, with glowing red eyes
  • Red Lesser Dragon
  • Black Dragon, the creature added alongside the Scorned Wilderness update

Ten Ashenfall paintings

The paintings are framed pieces drawn from the regions and set-piece encounters of Ashenfall, and they function as base decorations you can hang anywhere you have wall space. The set spans volcanic peaks, toxic swamp, pink meadows, crystal caverns, and pastoral valley, so the ten pieces cover most of the map’s visual range rather than repeating one mood.

  • Umbral Sands, showing an erupting volcanic mountain crowned by a tower
  • Ghornfell toxic swamp, with a giant skeletal dragon skull
  • Ghornfell meadows, pink fields with dragon remains behind them
  • Ghornfell forest, a lone figure in sunlit pink woodland
  • Fellhollow arena, a circular platform ringed by winged creatures
  • Dowdun Reach crystal cavern, lit by red crystals
  • Dowdun Reach approach, a canyon under red skies leading to a tower
  • Brynmoor valley, houses and fields beneath a large structure
  • Brynmoor swamp, a traveller in mist at dusk
  • Brynmoor hills, green ridges and cliffs over a red-tinted expanse

Muncher’s Basket and the sleeping Chinchompa

Two animated decorations round out the pack, and both are beds with an occupant already in them. Muncher’s Basket holds Muncher, the skeletal dog with glowing eyes, curled up in a wooden basket on the floor. The second is a Chinchompa dozing in a colourful nest of feathers. Neither follows you around — they stay where you place them, so they read as a home fixture rather than a pet you take into a fight.

Price and how to buy the Deluxe Edition Upgrade

If you already own RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you do not need to rebuy the game. The upgrade is sold as a standalone add-on that requires the base game, priced at $9.99 on Steam and £8.49 on Xbox, and it released alongside the 1.0 launch on 15 September 2026. Buyers starting fresh can instead pick up the bundled Deluxe Edition, which pairs the base game with the same digital contents. The Digital Deluxe Edition is available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

What the Physical Deluxe Edition adds

There is also a boxed version for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, which ships with a disc, the full digital Deluxe contents, and a stack of physical collectibles. It is dated for 5 November 2026, several weeks after the digital launch, and pre-orders are handled by individual retailers rather than a single stockist.

  • Collector’s box with a Steelbook featuring original artwork
  • Three embroidered combat skill patches for Melee, Magic, and Ranged
  • Five holographic character cards of Gielinor heroes
  • A cloth map of Ashenfall, covering the world up to the Scorned Wilderness

Jagex has said the cloth map will not be reissued as Ashenfall expands past 1.0, so it captures the map as it stands at launch. A physical Nintendo Switch 2 release has not been confirmed, and the Switch 2 version is currently digital only.

Judged purely on what it changes in play, the upgrade is a wardrobe and a furniture set. The Gilded Paladin pieces stay relevant because Ascension Cores let you push them up the power curve, and the Med Helms let you keep the old-school silhouette at every tier without eating a stat penalty. Everything else is there to make a base look lived in.
