The minigame is in Olderion, the Aquapolis, a town you reach later in the story. Talk to the jump rope kid there to begin. The kid opens with some bragging: “You saw that, right? We’re pretty good at jumping rope, huh?” followed by “My personal record is 10 jumps! Amazing, right?”
Next comes the challenge itself: “Go on and try then! I’ll give you something nice if you do good!” You can turn it down for now. If you do, the kid replies “Boooooo. Well, let me know if you do feel like it later.” and the offer stays open for when you come back.
How to play jump rope
Everything comes down to one prompt. The game shows “Jump when “!” is displayed!” and you jump each time the exclamation mark appears.

A countdown runs while you jump, so you always know how close you are to the kid’s record. It starts at a line like “10 to go!” and works down through “3 to go!”, “2 to go!”, and “1 to go!” until you pass the record.
If you fall short, the kid tells you “Hard luck, mister! Looks like you’ve got a ways to go.” and then “But you can get better. I believe in you! Come back and play again!” You can talk to the kid again and try once more.
Every jump rope record and reward
Each time you beat the kid’s record, you get one item. Then the kid goes off to practice and comes back with a higher number. After your first win, the kid tells you “Guess what, mister? I’ve been practicing, and now I can do 15 jumps!” Later records come with even more excitement, ending with “Okay, mister! I practiced a whole bunch and set a new record: 60 jumps! It would pretty much be rude to break it!”

- 10 jumps: Magicite Shard x1, “A shard imbued with the power of the Farplane. Has the power to awaken visions.”
- 15 jumps: Mist Hi-Potion x1, “Restores 800 HP for all allies.”
- 20 jumps: Mist Ether x1, “Restores 50 MP for all allies.”
- 30 jumps: Mist X-Potion x1, “Restores 2000 HP for all allies.”
- 40 jumps: Swift Badge x1, an accessory that “Increases speed by 10%.”
- 60 jumps: Magicite x1, “A stone imbued with the power of the Farplane. Has the power to awaken visions.”
The kid doesn’t always have a new record ready right away. If you come back too soon, you may hear “Sorry, I’m trying to set a new record right now. Come back later, okay?” When that happens, come back later and talk to the kid again.
Jump rope after the 60-jump record
You’ll know you’ve cleared the last record when the kid reacts with “What the—!? That’s amazing! You’re a jump rope master, mister!” and then “You really are the best. From now on, you’re competing against yourself!”
From then on, the kid’s offer is “Say, mister…if you want, you could try and beat your own record?” The game keeps track of your High Score, and beating it gives you a Magicite Shard x1.
What the jump rope rewards are used for
The Magicite Shard and Magicite are used to awaken Visions. That makes the high-score reward worth chasing once the six fixed tiers are done. For other sources of the stones, check where to get Magicite.
The three Mist potions heal HP or restore MP for your whole party at once, and they sit with the other consumables in the items list. The Swift Badge is an equippable speed boost, and you’ll find it in the accessories list.
