Fisch: How to Complete Every Fudo Idol Trial in Skycrest

Fudo is one of the seven stone-carved Ancient Idols on Skycrest, and it hands out five trials in exchange for the Endurance Charm. None of them need rare fish or a squall to spawn, which makes Fudo one of the more predictable idols to clear if you already have a few totems and a spare 80,000 C$.

Quick answer: Clear all five Fudo trials — a five-catch Perfect streak, a 60-second minigame hold on a Common fish with a Flimsy Rod, a 10-catch Perfect Cast and Perfect Catch streak, 10 Giant fish caught directly at Skycrest, and one Perfect Catch on a Hunt fish with the Artisan Rod — then interact with the Fudo Idol again to claim and level the Endurance Charm.

Fudo Idol trial list and rewards

The five requirements appear on the idol’s own quest board in this order. Two of them are pure execution, one is a waiting game, and the last two want specific gear.

Finishing all five also matters outside of Fudo itself. Completing a full set of trials from any single Ancient Idol is what qualifies you to talk to Ryusei at the Sanctuary and wish for a limited-time rod, so there is a second payoff attached to the same grind.

Perfect Cast and Perfect Catch streaks (Trials 1 and 3)

These two trials test the same two inputs, so it is worth doing them back to back while your timing is warm. The five-catch version only cares about the catch itself. The ten-catch version wants both halves of the fishing loop to be clean on every single fish.

Fish somewhere shallow and forgiving where the bites are fast and the fish are weak. You are farming repetitions here, not value, so the calmer the water the better.

Stop the casting meter inside the green zone. That is the Perfect Cast half, and for the ten-fish trial it has to land on every attempt or the counter resets.

Work the reeling minigame with the left and right controls and finish it cleanly for the Perfect Catch. Do that ten times consecutively and both streak trials are done.

Hold a Common fish minigame for 60 seconds at Moosewood

This trial rewards being bad at fishing on purpose. You need a minigame against a Common fish to stay alive for more than a full minute, which means you want the weakest rod you own and no interest in actually landing the fish quickly.

Travel to Moosewood and equip the Flimsy Rod. Bait does not matter, so use whatever is cheapest in your inventory.

Cast until you hook a Common fish. Anchovy, Bream, and Trout are the usual Moosewood catches that qualify, and you can confirm a species’ rarity in the bestiary if you are unsure.

Once the minigame starts, just keep it going. Nudge the bar enough to stop the fish escaping, but do not push the progress meter to the finish. After 60 seconds the trial ticks over and you can land or lose the fish freely.

Catch 10 Giant fish at Skycrest with the Sundial Totem

Giant is a weight-based outcome, so the trick is stacking weight modifiers rather than luck alone. The wording matters too: the catches have to be made directly at Skycrest, and they have to be your own rod pulls.

Use Sundial Totems repeatedly until the High Weight buff lands. The confirmation reads that the night has 1.5x luck for catching High Weight fish, and that is the window you want to fish in.

Equip the Evil Pitchfork Rod together with Sea Overlord and Sea Prince. That combination pushes catch weights up hard enough that Giant variants start appearing regularly.

Fish at Skycrest until ten Giant catches register. Size is irrelevant here — a Giant Danionella Cerebrum at 0.2kg counts exactly the same as a Giant Smoothie Stingray at over 10kg.

Perfect Catch a Hunt fish with the Artisan Rod

The last trial is the only one with a purchase attached. It locks you to one specific rod, so waiting for a random Hunt to appear is the slow route. Summoning your own is far more reliable.

Buy the Artisan Rod from Elder Kaito’s Shop for 80,000 C$. It is always offered in the stock rotation until you have bought it once, so a refresh will not lock you out.

Equip it and confirm the swap. The rod menu marks it as Equipped and the on-screen message reads “Equipped Artisan Rod!” — no other rod will satisfy this trial, even on a perfect catch.

Use a Megalodon Hunt Totem to spawn the Hunt yourself. The sighting announcement tells you the beast is in the water and the hunt is live.

Fish with Tryhard Worm Bait and land the Hunt fish with a Perfect Catch. Piercing and Overclocked enchants on the Artisan Rod make the minigame far easier to hold clean, which is the part that actually counts.

Note: any Hunt fish works. A Megalodon is simply the most controllable option because you can summon it on demand with a totem instead of waiting for a hunt to trigger naturally.

How to confirm a trial registered

Each completed trial fires an “Idol Favor Up!” notification, and the entry disappears from Fudo’s quest list when you interact with the idol again. If a streak trial still shows the old count, the run was broken somewhere — one missed green zone on a cast, or one catch that did not finish as Perfect, resets the whole chain.

Two other failure points are worth checking. Giant catches only count when you pull them in yourself at Skycrest, and the Hunt fish trial will not tick over unless the Artisan Rod is the rod actually equipped at the moment of the catch.

Once all five are cleared, return to the Fudo Idol to unlock the Endurance Charm and level it. Charms grow by catching fish inside Skycrest, and the Crest Amulet holds up to nine of them as your Idol Favor level rises, so the Endurance Charm is only worth as much as the time you keep fishing on the island afterward.
