The Eldritch Rod is a limited-time FischFright 3 reward in Fisch. You can’t buy it or catch it. It unlocks when Beatrix’s Cauldron in Caustic Hallow reaches a set Hex Energy level, and the only reliable way to fill that cauldron is to keep beating Goblin challenges around the map for witch ingredients.
Quick answer: Complete Goblin challenges for witch ingredients, offer them at Beatrix’s Cauldron in Caustic Hallow, and repeat until you reach Hex Energy Level 11. The Eldritch Rod then appears in your Fishing Rods inventory.
Eldritch Rod unlock requirement: Hex Energy Level 11
The Eldritch Rod is tied to the Witch’s Brew progression, which runs through the Fueling the Coven quest. Each batch of ingredients you drop into Beatrix’s Cauldron adds Hex Energy, and the cauldron climbs through numbered stages as that energy builds. The rod unlocks at Hex Energy Level 11.
Progress is cumulative, so you don’t need to gather everything in one trip. Bring back what you have, offer it, and head out again. Talking to Beatrix at any point shows where your current Hex stage stands.
To get there in the first place, talk to Captain Jack on the Haunted Ship at Moosewood Dock and pick “I want to Travel” to reach the FischFright 3 event area. Beatrix’s hut and cauldron are in Caustic Hallow, marked by an “Event” tag above her head.
Witch’s Brew ingredient list
Pressing [E] Talk on Beatrix brings up her recipe. Each ingredient carries a number beside it in that list, with the Dark Art Skull at the top.

Dark Art Skulls come from Hard difficulty Goblin quests. Goblins also let you ask for an easier task, so you can choose between a quick clear and a tougher one.
These same ingredients are spent in several FischFright 3 rituals, including the Eldritch Ritual, which takes seven witch ingredients and three Dark Art Skulls. Anything you burn on rituals is no longer available to push your cauldron toward Level 11.
How Goblin challenges award ingredients
Goblins appear on islands across the map at intervals, and the game announces each spawn with a HUD banner such as “Goblins have spawned at Snowcap!” Clicking Navigate on that banner drops a directional marker that leads you straight to the Goblin. Moosewood and Snowcap are both confirmed spawn spots.
Interacting with a Goblin starts a timed challenge. The task changes from Goblin to Goblin, so read it before you act. Possible objectives include:
- Catching fish before the timer runs out
- Dancing, which only counts with the dance emote
- Sending a message in the in-game chat
- Guessing a holiday
- Answering trivia questions
Finish the objective inside the time limit and the Goblin hands over a witch ingredient. Rarer Goblin variants can also turn up while you roam, so check any unusual-looking one you pass.

Once you have ingredients in hand, the loop that actually moves the Eldritch Rod counter forward looks like this.
[E] Offer All Ingredients to dump everything you’re carrying in one go. If you only want to hand over a single item, use [E] Offer Ingredient instead.
Confirming the Eldritch Rod unlocked
After your offering pushes the cauldron to Hex Energy Level 11, open the Fishing Rods section of your inventory. The Eldritch Rod shows up there with its stats and appearance, ready to equip. If Beatrix still reports a stage below 11, the rod stays locked, and the fix is simply more Goblin runs and another trip to the cauldron.
