The Deep expansion for Fisch adds four fishing rods, and each one asks for a very different amount of work. Two come straight from finishing NPC questlines in the new underwater zones, while the other two are crafted at the Ancient Archives using materials farmed across the trenches. Here is exactly where each rod comes from, what it costs, and what its stats do.
Quick answer: Get the Luminous Rod from Dr. Vane’s questline in the Outer Deep and the Scalding Hook from the Fester of the Deep in the Lower Deep. Craft the Titanium Rod (Level 250) and the Cusk Purger at the Crafting Anvil inside the Ancient Archives.
The Deep rods at a comparison
All four rods pull in different directions. The Luminous Rod is a mutation farmer, the Scalding Hook targets heavy and progress-locked fish, the Titanium Rod is the all-rounder with infinite weight, and the Cusk Purger trades control for the highest Luck of the group.
| Rod | How you get it | Luck | Max Kg |
|---|---|---|---|
| Luminous Rod | Dr. Vane questline (Outer Deep) | 95% | 60,000 kg |
| Scalding Hook | Fester of the Deep questline (Lower Deep) | 180% | 400,000 kg |
| Titanium Rod | Craft at Ancient Archives (Level 250) | 180% | Infinite |
| Cusk Purger | Craft at Ancient Archives | 225% | Infinite |

Add to Google Preferences →Quest reward rods: Luminous Rod and Scalding Hook
These two rods do not need any crafting or materials. You just work through an NPC’s quest chain and the rod drops as a reward. That makes both of them the fastest options in the update.
Luminous Rod
The Luminous Rod is handed to you by Dr. Vane in the Outer Deep. It arrives partway through her chain rather than at the very end, so complete her quests in order and the rod appears as a reward before you finish the line. It carries 2,000 XP toward The Deep journal.

| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 70% |
| Luck | 95% |
| Control | 0.1 (+10%) |
| Resilience | 25% |
| Max Kg | 60,000 kg |
| Line Distance | 40m |
Its mutations are the reason to use it. There is a 10% chance for Bioluminescent (4x multiplier) and a 30% chance for Luminous (9x multiplier), plus a passive of +10 Progress Speed. The raw stats are modest, but the high Luminous chance gives it real selling value. It is also a required crafting material for the Master Line Rod, so it is worth grabbing even if you never fish with it directly.
Scalding Hook
The Scalding Hook comes from the Fester of the Deep NPC in the Lower Deep. Finish every quest they offer in sequence and the rod is given on completion.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 82% |
| Luck | 180% |
| Control | 0.12 |
| Resilience | 30% |
| Max Kg | 400,000 kg |
It has a chance to apply the Scalded mutation. Its passive ramps up progress speed over time and lets it hook ghost-type fish as an extra catch, which makes it strong for larger and progress-locked species. The 400,000 kg cap does mean it cannot pull in the heaviest endgame fish.
Crafted rods at the Ancient Archives
The Titanium Rod and the Cusk Purger are both built at the Crafting Anvil inside the Ancient Archives, which you reach through Moosewood. These are the long-haul rewards. Once you have every material and enough C$, the anvil turns the parts into the finished rod, which then appears in your inventory.
Titanium Rod (Level 250)
The Titanium Rod needs Level 250 plus the parts below. The trickiest piece is the Titanium Shaft, which comes from Sledge’s quest chain in The Deep. One of Sledge’s quests asks for three large-or-bigger Devil Scorpion Fish, and those spawn in the Lower Deep during nighttime clear weather.
| Material | Amount | How to get |
|---|---|---|
| Titanium Shaft | 1 | Reward from the Sledge questline in The Deep |
| Titanium Reel | 1 | Obtained through Deep questlines |
| Refined Scrap | 5 | 10% drop from the Crushed Diving Helmet; also drops in Outer Deep |
| Money | 200,000 C$ | General gameplay |

| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 100% |
| Luck | 180% |
| Control | 0.3 (+30%) |
| Resilience | 75% |
| Max Kg | Infinite |
| Durability | 200 |
This is the strongest of the four. Infinite Max Kg means it can catch anything in the game, and the 0.3 Control gives a wide control bar that is ideal for AFK grinding. Its mutation is a 20% chance for Titanium (9x multiplier). The passive gives a 35% chance every 0.5 seconds to slash for 5% Progress and stun the fish for 0.15 seconds (Piercing), plus a flat +30% Progress Speed. Adding the Heron enchantment lifts the control bar to 0.5, making it one of the best AFK rods available.
Cusk Purger
The Cusk Purger is the most material-heavy rod in the update. Most of its parts come from the Outer Deep, while the Monstrous Cusk Teeth require harpooning the Monstrous Cusk in the Lower Deep, giving one tooth per successful catch. The Line of the Deep ties into the Cartographer questline, which asks you to catch specific fish including a Faceless Cusk, complete Outer Deep bestiary entries, and turn in Radiant Prism Scales.
| Material | Amount | How to get |
|---|---|---|
| Monstrous Cusk Tooth | 3 | Harpoon the Monstrous Cusk in the Lower Deep (one per catch) |
| Abyssal Biofluid | 3 | 20% chance from catching a Luminous Hake in the Outer Deep |
| Radiant Prism Scale | 2 | Fishing or harpoon fishing in the Outer Deep |
| Line of the Deep | 1 | Complete the Cartographer questline in The Deep |
| Hardened Chitin | 3 | 1 in 40 chance when fishing in the Outer Deep |
| Refined Scrap | 3 | Outer Deep drops |
| Ancient Bone | 3 | Farmed in The Deep |
| Money | 750,000 C$ | General gameplay |
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 88% |
| Luck | 225% |
| Control | -0.05 |
| Resilience | 25% |
| Max Kg | Infinite |
The negative control stat makes the control bar very narrow, which is the trade-off for its 225% Luck and +40% Progress Speed. It also carries 7 Disturbance, one of the highest base values on any rod, and its Monstrous mutation lands at roughly a 9x multiplier. That combination makes it a strong money-making rod for players who can handle the tighter bar.
Which rod to chase first
The Luminous Rod takes the least effort since it just requires progressing Dr. Vane’s chain in the Outer Deep, and it doubles as a Master Line Rod crafting ingredient. The Titanium Rod is the most useful overall thanks to its infinite Max Kg, wide control bar, and automatic slash passive, which make it excellent for AFK fishing. The Cusk Purger takes the longest to assemble but holds the highest Luck stat of the four.
Tip: If you are farming Monstrous Cusk Teeth for the Cusk Purger, Solar Eclipse weather adds extra disturbance to your setup. Paired with a high-disturbance rod or bait, it noticeably improves your chances of spawning the Monstrous Cusk.
