Droid Fusion in Fortnite Droid Tycoon looks like an upgrade path. You drop three droids into the machine and walk away with one. The trap is that the machine does not average your best units upward. It can inherit the weakness of the cheapest droid you fed it, and those stronger units are gone.
Quick answer: Fuse three droids that already sit at the highest rarity and level you can spare. One low-rarity input can turn two Mythic units into a Gold Mythic X-ONK that only makes 16.00K/s.
Low-rarity Droid Fusion inputs cut credit rate
The fusion still completes if the three droids do not match. You do not get a warning that the mix is poor. You get a new droid with a weaker credit line than the units you sacrificed.
A documented bad mix uses a Gold Common Gonk with two Beskar Mythic KX droids. The machine accepts that combination. The droid that comes out is a Gold Mythic X-ONK at 16.00K/s. The Mythic tag on the result does not save the income. The Common Gonk dragged the whole fusion down.
You start that mix at the Fused Droids station. Walk up, use the X Interact prompt, and activate the droid you want to commit. The same panel can show a Fused Droids counter, including a 5/10 mark toward a Luck Boost Token, while you lock the inputs in.

After the fusion, open the X-ONK panel and hit WORK if you still want that unit collecting. WORK is how you put the fused droid on credit duty. It does not repair the rate. 16.00K/s is the result of that mix, not a temporary penalty.

Keep every input at the highest rarity and level you can. A Gold Common filler next to Beskar Mythic KX units is enough to waste both KX droids. The output can still read Mythic and still pay like a much cheaper unit.

Add to Google Preferences →RIV-3T Droid Fusion recipe
Matched high-tier inputs produce a different droid entirely. The RIV-3T fusion uses one Galactic IG Unit, one Galactic RIC, and one Galactic Mythic KX. Place each one on the fusion platform when the PLACE DROID prompt appears. The Fused Droids counter may sit at 2/10 while you seat those units.

Those three inputs already earn in the hundreds of thousands of credits per second. The IG Unit is at 255.20K/s, the RIC at 224.40K/s, and the KX at 316.80K/s. The fused RIV-3T comes back as a Galactic Mythic at 369.60K/s.
| RIV-3T input | Tier | Credit rate |
|---|---|---|
| IG Unit | Galactic | 255.20K/s |
| RIC | Galactic | 224.40K/s |
| KX | Galactic Mythic | 316.80K/s |
| RIV-3T (result) | Galactic Mythic | 369.60K/s |
That is the same three-droid cost as the Gonk mix. The difference is that no input is a Common leftover. If you cannot field three droids in that band, wait. Holding the KX units is worth more than forcing a fusion with a Gonk.
Droid Fusion Machine rules
Droid Fusion lives in the Galactic Workshop. You combine three droids in the Workshop’s Droid Fusion Machine. The three inputs are consumed. One droid comes out.
THREE DROIDS ENTER. ONE EMERGES.
The result can be a higher-rarity droid, a droid with new variations, or a completely new droid, depending on the combination. The feature is permanent. The fused unit is not a display piece. It goes to work collecting credits and carries its own bonuses, the same way your other droids do.
After a fusion, the Fused Droids screen is where you collect those credits from the machine. That screen also tracks fusion progress, including a 2/10 mark toward a Luck Boost Token, while the credits come in.

Gold Common B1 Battle from three common droids
Fusion is not reserved for Mythic lines. Three standard common droids produce a Gold Common B1 Battle. That mix stays inside one rarity band. The Gold tag is the variation the machine adds. Nothing in that fusion is trying to carry two Beskar Mythic units.
Use that common-only pattern when you want a Gold Common B1 Battle. Do not treat a leftover Common as a free third slot next to high-tier droids. The B1 Battle fusion and the RIV-3T fusion both spend three units. Only one of those mixes belongs next to a KX.
| Three-droid mix | Fused droid | Credit rate |
|---|---|---|
| Three common droids | Gold Common B1 Battle | — |
| Gold Common Gonk + two Beskar Mythic KX | Gold Mythic X-ONK | 16.00K/s |
| Galactic IG + Galactic RIC + Galactic Mythic KX | Galactic Mythic RIV-3T | 369.60K/s |
Confirm Droid Fusion output stats
A finished fusion is obvious on the new droid’s panel. You should see a name, a type and rarity line, and a credits-per-second figure. RIV-3T reads Galactic Mythic at 369.60K/s. X-ONK reads Gold Mythic at 16.00K/s. Both fusions “worked.” Only the rate tells you whether the three inputs were worth spending.
If the name is X-ONK and the rate is 16.00K/s, the weak input already did the damage. WORK will only assign that low line. You cannot recover the Gonk or the two KX droids. If the name is RIV-3T and the rate is 369.60K/s, the Galactic IG, RIC, and KX combination landed.
Hold the machine until all three slots are strong. Droid Fusion always takes the trio. The only decision that matters is whether the droid that emerges can out-earn the ones you just deleted.
