The Sprite Mastery reward track in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 is a season-long ladder that pays out every time you permanently master a Sprite. Rewards mix cosmetics with practical items like Portable Extractors and Sprite Dust, and each mastered Sprite pushes you one tier further. The catch is that reaching Level 5 alone earns you nothing. The reward only registers when you bank that Sprite.

Quick answer: Master a Sprite by extracting it at Level 5 (or winning a Victory Royale while holding it at Level 5). Each mastered Sprite advances the Sprite Mastery reward track by one tier, and the crown icon in your lobby gallery confirms it counted.

What counts as mastering a Sprite

A Sprite is only marked as Mastered when you successfully extract it at Level 5, either at an Extraction Site or with a Portable Extractor. Winning a match while holding a Level 5 Sprite also counts. Hitting Level 5 and then dying does not grant mastery, because extraction is the step that locks it in.

Only the Sprite equipped in your primary slot earns XP during a match. Copies sitting in your inventory stay frozen at their current level until you swap them into the active slot. Once a Sprite is mastered, a crown icon appears next to it in the lobby gallery and stays there for the rest of the season, even if the Sprite later resets to Level 1.

Sprite Mastery reward track (first seven tiers)

Part 1 of the track covers the first seven mastered Sprites. The Portable Extractors from tiers 2 and 6 are the standout rewards for collectors, since they let you bank an equipped Sprite without traveling to a loud Extraction Site. The Sprite Dust payouts at tiers 3 and 5 fund re-summons when a mastered Sprite resets after death.

Sprites masteredReward
1Extraction Frame Back Bling
24 Portable Extractors
37,500 Sprite Dust
440,000 Season XP
57,500 Sprite Dust
64 Portable Extractors
7Extraction Frame (Stealth) Back Bling

The seven tiers hand out eight Portable Extractors in total. The 40,000 Season XP at tier 4 also helps Battle Pass pacing while you grind. If you own the Chapter 7 Season 3 Battle Pass, every mastered Sprite additionally unlocks that Sprite as a selectable style on the Sprite Pod Back Bling, variants included. Without the pass, you still earn mastered status and track progress, but you cannot display the Sprite on your back.

Part 2 and Part 3 extended rewards

After you claim the seventh crown, the same lobby tab opens Part 2 and, later, Part 3 pages. These extensions continue the same currency mix of Sprite Dust, Portable Extractors, XP, and Back Bling variants, tied to mastering eight or more unique Sprites. Epic staggers the new tiers across the season, so fresh rows can appear during Sprite events or Holofoil rollouts.

Because the exact Part 3 prize list changes as the season progresses, no fixed reward table for the later tiers is confirmed yet. Re-open the lobby Sprites → Mastery Rewards tab after each major patch to see the current unlocks before planning a grind. Working through Rare and Epic Normals first keeps Dust re-summons affordable while you climb.

How to level a Sprite to 5

XP builds up only while your target Sprite is equipped in the primary slot. Combat pays the most per action, but looting is the safer route because it never puts your progress at risk. The most efficient approach combines both, so you loot every container in your path and take fights only when they clearly favor you.

ActionSprite XP
Eliminate an opponent+200 XP
Extract a duplicate Sprite+200 XP
Down an opponent+100 XP
Extract a new Sprite type+100 XP
Open a chest, ammo box, or container+75 XP

You must interact with a container to claim the +75 XP. Breaking furniture or props underneath a chest without opening it skips the grant entirely, which quietly slows down a lot of players. The XP needed for each level rises as you climb, so the jump from Level 4 to Level 5 takes noticeably more work than the early levels.

Note: Mastery Monday runs every Monday from 9 AM ET for 24 hours and doubles all Sprite XP. Scheduling your Level 5 pushes for that window is the single biggest time-saver when clearing your collection.

Safe two-game route to lock in mastery

Reaching Level 5 usually takes more than one match, and dying at Level 4 with a Legendary or Mythic Sprite is the top cause of lost progress. Splitting the grind across two calm games beats greeding in a contested area.

Equip the Sprite you want to master in the primary slot and land at a low-traffic POI when the bus path pulls players elsewhere. The early game also has more bots, which makes eliminations easier to chain.
Open every chest, ammo box, and breakable container in the area for +75 XP each. Pick up any stray Sprites you find, since extracting inventory copies later adds +100 to +200 XP apiece.
Head to a nearby Extraction Site, deposit your inventory Sprites first to stack the bonus XP, then extract your equipped Sprite. If it is only at Level 3 or 4, extract anyway to bank the progress.
Re-summon that same Sprite in the next match and push it the rest of the way to Level 5. A Portable Extractor pays off here, because you can bank it the instant it hits max level without hunting for a pad.

Tip: If the lobby feels heavy, extract at Level 3 or 4 rather than risking a hot-zone death. The Shattered Coast teleporter tunnels are dense with chests and ammo boxes, letting you loot for most of a match without crossing open ground.

Losing a Sprite and Sprite Dust restore costs

If you die while holding a Sprite without extracting it, that Sprite drops out of your inventory and resets to Level 1. A mastered Sprite keeps its crown and all track progress, but its Level 5 power does not carry over. You either find that type again in a later match or spend Sprite Dust to re-summon it, and it returns at Level 1.

You earn Sprite Dust every time you extract a Sprite. Special variants such as Gold, Gummy, and Galaxy cost more to re-summon than Normal forms, so keep a Dust reserve before taking Mythics into a busy lobby.

RarityNormal summonSpecial variant summon
Rare100 Dust4,000 Dust
Epic3,000 Dust6,000 Dust
Legendary5,000 Dust10,000 Dust
Mythic7,500 Dust15,000 Dust

Gummy variants grant +10% Sprite Dust on every extraction, so farming them during a mastery grind funds re-summons faster. Gold variants add bonus XP from eliminations, which speeds up the next push back to Level 5.

The reward for mastering Sprites is collection progress rather than lasting in-match power. You keep the crown, the cosmetics, the Dust, the Extractors, and the Back Bling styles, while the Level 5 ability has to be rebuilt each time you take a Sprite into a match. To fill out the full track before the season ends, work through your Sprites in rarity order, keep a Portable Extractor on hand, and time your Level 5 pushes for Mastery Monday.
