Forza Horizon 6: How to Complete the Drift Attack Daily Challenge

Where the Shimanoyama Drift Attack sits on the map, what counts as a lap, and how to confirm the challenge cleared.

The Drift Attack daily challenge in the Summer season of the Forza Horizon 6 Festival Playlist is one of the quicker credit payouts on the board, but only if you know where the event lives. Shimanoyama Circuit is the permanent home of Drift Attack, and the challenge does not care how many points you score — it cares that you finish a lap.

Quick answer: Drive to the Shimanoyama Drift Attack in the Shimanoyama Region, pass through the gantry, and complete one full lap of the course. The daily challenge ticks over the moment the lap registers.

What the Drift Attack daily challenge asks for

The challenge text reads “Complete Tap of Drift Attack,” and in practice that means one completed lap of a Drift Attack course. There is no minimum score attached to the daily itself. You can spin, straighten up, and crawl around the circuit, and it still counts once you cross the line.

That is worth separating from the seasonal Drift Attack objective, which is a different thing entirely. The seasonal version asks you to earn 60,000 or more drift points at the same location. Both can be knocked out in the same run if you bring a car that can actually hold an angle.

Finding the Shimanoyama Drift Attack on the map

Shimanoyama Circuit is busy with icons, so hunting for the Drift Attack gantry by eye wastes time. The map filter solves it in a few seconds.

Open the world map from the pause menu. Do not scroll around yet — the filter is doing the work here.
Go into Map Filter and deselect every category. This clears the map of races, PR stunts, houses, and everything else cluttering the region.
Re-enable only “Drift Attack.” The remaining icon marks the Shimanoyama Drift Attack in the Shimanoyama Region.
Fast travel straight to it if you have the option unlocked, or drive over. Either works — the event has no lobby and no loading screen, so you start scoring by driving through the gantry from the open world.

Note: If no Drift Attack icon appears at all, you have not yet earned the Yellow Wristband in the Horizon Festival campaign. That wristband gates access to the mode.

Pick a car that holds a slide

For the daily alone, almost anything gets you around. For the 60,000-point seasonal target in the same visit, swap into a dedicated drift build before you enter the gantry. A drift-tuned 2019 DeBerti Toyota Tacoma TRD clears that bar comfortably, with runs well past 130,000 points on a single lap.

Rear-wheel drive with predictable power delivery is the sensible baseline. Cars that stay controllable through direction changes tend to score better than raw horsepower builds, because you need to place the car precisely rather than just go sideways. Turning off Traction Control and Stability Management removes the assists that cut the wheelspin drifting depends on, and a manual gearbox gives finer control over engine speed.

Running the lap and scoring Clipping Zones

Drift Attack scores you the same way Drift Zones and Horizon Drift do, with one addition. Clipping Zones are marked areas placed around Shimanoyama, and any points you generate while the car is inside one get boosted.

That changes what a good lap looks like. The biggest, loudest slide is not automatically the highest-scoring one if it drifts wide of a zone. A tidier angle that keeps the car inside the boundaries usually pays more.

Enter each zone already settled into the drift rather than initiating it once you are inside. Treat linked corners as one continuous sequence and let the car’s weight transfer carry you between them, instead of straightening fully and re-initiating at every turn. Big corrections cost momentum and make the following clipping point harder to reach.

There is no cap on laps. If a run goes badly, keep circulating — the activity records your performance and lets you keep attempting until you are satisfied.

Confirming the challenge completed

A completion notification appears on screen as soon as the lap registers, and the Summer season entry in the Festival Playlist flips to completed. Your credits balance updates at the same time. If you also cleared the 60,000-point seasonal target, that entry updates separately.

If nothing triggers, the usual cause is an incomplete lap — cutting back through the gantry early, or resetting the car mid-run, ends the attempt without registering a finished lap. Drive the full circuit and cross the line properly.

Drift Attack is not going anywhere

The Shimanoyama layout is a permanent fixture rather than a seasonal one, arriving with the September 7, 2026 update alongside Car Meets, Drag Meets, and Time Attack Circuits as a Shared World activity. Additional temporary Drift Attack locations are planned for later series updates, though no specific dates have been confirmed.

Because the mode also feeds a Collection Journal progression track, the laps you run chasing the daily are not wasted. That track carries the 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition along with a Drift Attack racesuit and helmet, and it is not locked to a single seasonal week — you can come back and finish it later. So even a lazy lap for 5,000 credits nudges you toward the car.
