Genshin Impact: The Chefs From a Foreign Land Walkthrough

The Chefs From a Foreign Land is a short World Quest tucked into the Wondrous Anecdotes tab of the Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon event. It plays out entirely at the food street in Yilong Wharf, Liyue, and it centers on a friendly clash between Liyue and Fontaine cooks that ends with two chefs agreeing to work together. There is no combat and no puzzle to solve, so the whole thing is dialogue you move through to collect the rewards.

Quick answer: Open the event menu, start the quest from Wondrous Anecdotes, teleport to Yilong Wharf, walk to the food street, and clear the dialogue until Xiangling and Escoffier agree to bake a Wangxiao Cake together.

The quest lives inside the Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon event rather than out in the open world, so you launch it from the Events Overview screen. Full walkthrough

Open the Events Overview menu and select Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon. Switch to the Wondrous Anecdotes tab, pick The Chefs From a Foreign Land, and choose Go to Quest so it becomes your tracked objective.

With the objective “Go to the food street” active, open the map and teleport to the central Teleport Waypoint at Yilong Wharf. This drops you right next to the food stalls.

Take the yellow marker northeast across Yilong Wharf until you reach the stalls. Entering the highlighted spot starts a cutscene: the Traveler and Paimon meet Shenhe, who is lending a hand because her cooking practice accidentally left a hole in a wok.

Sit through the argument between Smiley Yanxiao and Savanna, the head chef of Hotel Debord in Fontaine. They clash over Liyue’s loose instructions like “a dash of salt” and “as needed” versus Fontaine’s precise measurements, though Savanna quietly admits the food tastes delicious.

Continue the conversation as Xiangling explains the friendly rivalry and Escoffier steps in. Escoffier breaks down the logic behind Yanxiao’s methods: a dash of salt keeps the natural flavor, soy sauce as needed adds color and savoriness, and high heat with poured oil seals in the juices.

When Yanxiao pushes for a cook-off between Xiangling and Escoffier, pick the dialogue that steers things away from a contest. Choose “How about a culinary exchange?” to suggest the chefs learn from each other instead of competing.

Escoffier and Xiangling both agree to combine their cooking philosophies and share techniques. This is the turning point that shifts the standoff into a partnership.

A senior guild president from the Chenyu Vale Confectionery Guild cuts in, condemning newer desserts as disrespectful to Moonchase customs and insisting on authentic Five-Nut Wangxiao Cakes. Following an argument with Yanxiao, he allows the chefs several days to produce a cake capable of surpassing tradition; otherwise, all the street’s stalls must sell the ordinary Five-Nut Wangxiao Cakes.

Once the guildmaster leaves, Shenhe proposes making a cake together, and Xiangling and Escoffier commit to the joint effort. Finishing this exchange closes out the quest.

How to confirm the quest is done

You will know the quest is complete when the closing cutscene ends and the on-screen banner reads “The Chefs From a Foreign Land – Quest Completed.” The Primogems, Mora, Festive Cheer, and Mystic Enhancement Ore drop into your inventory at that moment, and the entry no longer appears as an active objective under Wondrous Anecdotes.
