Gordo’s Task is one of the first Forsaken quests that sends you off the road in Tirisfal Glades, and it trips people up for a silly reason: the plant you need is small, purple, and hides at the bases of trees. The quest itself is short. Find three Gloom Weed, walk them back to Brill, hand them over to an apothecary who did not ask for them.
Quick answer: Pick up the quest from Gordo, gather 3 Gloom Weed in the fields and pond area between Brill and Deathknell, then turn in to Junior Apothecary Holland in the Brill graveyard.
Finding Gordo, the quest giver in Tirisfal Glades
Gordo is an abomination, and in Classic Era he does not stand still. He walks the road between Deathknell and Brill, which means the yellow question mark on your map marks his route rather than a fixed spot. Players commonly pick him up around 54.7, 52.2, near the wooden bridge west of Brill. If he is not there, keep walking the road — and check just south of it, since he strays off the path.

The quest requires level 5 and is available to Horde characters only. It is sharable, so a group can accept it off one person who finds him first.
Gordo does not always display the yellow exclamation mark above his head even when the quest is available to you. Talk to him anyway.
On the modern retail version of the game the wandering is gone. Gordo stands at Calston Estate, around 44.5, 53.0, and hands out the same objective as part of the Tirisfal Glades questline.

Gloom Weed is a low purple-leafed plant with a faint particle glow. It sits flush with the grass, tucked against tree trunks and along the edges of the dirt road, which is why so many players run straight past it. The spawns cluster in the fields between Brill and Deathknell, and a good number sit in the shallow water of Stillwater Pond.

| Coordinates | Area | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 50, 53 | Fields west of Brill | Several spawns close together |
| 50, 56 | Stillwater Pond | Many spawns, including in shallow water |
| 52, 52 | Near the zombie camp | Overlaps with A Putrid Task |
| 50, 50 | North of the bridge | Bridge is at roughly 54, 53 |
| 52, 49 | North of the road | Quieter route |
| 53, 51 / 54, 54 | Roadside | Check tree bases |
| 44, 50 / 44, 56 | Toward Deathknell | Vampiric bats patrol nearby |
If you have Herbalism, this stops being a scavenger hunt. Find Herbs puts Gloom Weed on your minimap as yellow dots, and Herbalism can be trained in Brill. Without it, walk the roadside slowly and scan the ground around trunks.
Gordo harvests Gloom Weed himself as he walks his route, so the ground behind him is picked clean. Gather to the west of his path, just east of Solliden Farmstead, and you will compete with him far less.

Rewards and how to confirm the quest completed
There is no item reward here. The payout is experience, Undercity standing, and the next step in the chain.
| Version | Experience | Undercity reputation |
|---|---|---|
| Classic (original) | 230 | +50 |
| Season of Mastery | 315 | +50 |
| Retail | Scales with level | +75 |
You know it worked when Holland’s dialogue closes out, your quest log drops Gordo’s Task, and Doom Weed appears as the next quest offered by the same NPC. On a Classic realm you can also check the completion flag directly with a chat command.
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(5481))
A returned value of true means the quest is credited to that character. If you are on retail instead, the same check works with quest ID 25038.
One last piece of routing advice: the Gloom Weed cluster around 52, 52 sits right next to the zombies used for A Putrid Task, so if you have both quests you can finish them in the same lap and save yourself a second trip out of Brill.
