Quick answer: Start by destroying the Yang Puppet lower half. Use a guard or parry against the Golden Assassin Puppet’s paired-blade attacks, and retreat to heal whenever your health falls.
Golden Assassin Puppet at a glance
The Golden Assassin Puppet has a slender, upright frame, a gold finish, articulated limbs, and a long, straight blade in either hand. It is not a full boss: its small health meter appears over its head rather than at the bottom of the screen, though it still has 25,534 HP on Wayfarer.

- Arena: Red lanterns hang above a broad paved courtyard. Rocks border one side, a short stone stair stands nearby, and fire burns in patches across the paving.
- Yang Puppet lower half: A walking pair of puppet legs that joins the fight beside it.
- Floating Head: A doll’s head hovers in purple flame in the same courtyard.
- A further Golden Assassin Puppet watches over the courtyard near the Back Hill bell.

The puppet is stationed in the red-lantern courtyard of the Mirage Estate, along the stretch connecting the bell at Zhang’s Hideout (Mirage Estate) to the Opera House bell. The bells are roughly 120 m apart, and the entire route is on foot.

Golden Assassin Puppet attacks and how to answer them
Most of the danger comes from staying in close while its blades are moving.

| What you see | What happens | Your response |
|---|---|---|
| With its arms extended to either side, it carries a blade in each hand | It sets up before closing in | Back off or dodge out |
| Spinning with both blades out | A wide golden trail catches anything nearby | Stay clear until the trail ends |
| White light crackling around it | A close-range lunge | Keep your distance or dodge |
| Rapid slashes from both blades | Close-range blade strings | Guard or parry |
| Floating Head drifting toward you | A round shockwave dome around the head | Step out of the dome |
Guarding the blade strings throws bright orange sparks, which is the easiest way to tell your block landed. Keep the Floating Head on screen as well.

How to beat the Golden Assassin Puppet
Remove the Yang Puppet lower half first
Go for the walking legs before anything else. On Wayfarer they drop in under 30 seconds, and that leaves one fewer enemy hitting you from your blind spot while you deal with the puppet.

Block the blade strings instead of trading hits
After eliminating the legs, focus on the puppet and meet its twin-blade sequences with a guard or parry instead of attacking into them. Move beyond its reach when it opens its arms or begins a spin, then wait for the gold streak to vanish. Keep track of the Floating Head throughout the fight, and leave its dome as soon as it activates.

An “E” prompt sometimes appears over the puppet mid-fight. Press E right away to run an execution.

Heal early and reset when you need to
This is a long fight. On Wayfarer it runs close to four minutes and can use up every heal in your gourd. If your health gets down to a sliver, don’t push for one more hit. Back away, heal, and come back in.
If you keep running out of heals, return with upgraded weapons and try again.
After the Golden Assassin Puppet falls
With the puppet down, finish off the Floating Head at your own pace. Then head to the red double door past the courtyard and press E to open it. The Opera House bell is just beyond, in the pavilion by the pond.
