Quick answer: The Training Grounds yard in the Mirage Estate throws five waves of puppets and dolls at you with no break between them, followed by the boss Yuding, No.12, Crescent Blade Puppet.
How to reach the Training Grounds yard in the Mirage Estate
The yard is a broad wooden practice deck bordered by spear racks, straw targets, and large drums. It lies about 60 m from the Training Grounds bell, up one flight of stone stairs; the bell is below it.

Each wave shows up the moment the last enemy of the previous one falls. There is no pause, so the fight runs as one continuous stretch from the first puppet to the boss.

|---|---|---|
| Wave 1 | Sword and round red shield, attacks with the Spearman | |
| Wave 1 | Long spear, attacks with the Swordshield Puppet | |
| Wave 2 | Appear right beside you | |
| Wave 3 | Fights up close | |
| Wave 3 | Explosive shots onto the floor | |
| Wave 4 | Iron umbrella edged in blades | |
| Waves 4 and 5 | Small big-head doll | Links a purple beam to the others |
| Wave 5 | Big-head doll | |
| Wave 5 | Big-head doll | |
| Wave 5 | Big-head doll | |
| Boss | Yuding, No.12, Crescent Blade Puppet | Arrives after the last doll |
Wave 1 pairs a Swordshield Puppet, carrying a sword and a round red shield, with a long-spear Puppet Spearman. Both are drilling in the yard when you arrive and come at you at the same time.

The two Shadow Assassins spawn within a few metres of you as soon as wave 1 is gone.

Wave 3 splits your attention. The Golden Assassin Puppet fights up close while two Alloy Cannon Puppets fire explosive shots onto the floor.

Wave 4 brings an Iron Umbrella Puppet with a large iron umbrella edged in blades. A small big-head doll stays near it and links a glowing purple beam to it. That same doll sticks around into wave 5, beaming onto the big-head dolls Hmph-hmph, Ho-ho, and Wah-wah.

A small bar floats above each wave enemy. Once the final doll falls, Yuding enters the yard, and her name and boss bar show along the top edge of the screen.

How the purple beams protect the small big-head doll
The small big-head doll from wave 4 can’t be worn down while its beams are connected. Hitting it does nothing to its health bar as long as the purple beams link it to other enemies.

The enemies on the other end of the beams are a different story. They take damage and die normally, even with the beams up. The Iron Umbrella Puppet and Ho-ho can both be killed while linked.

In waves 4 and 5, leave the small doll alone and put every attack into the enemies it’s linked to.
Surviving back-to-back waves
Because the next wave arrives the instant the current one is cleared, your healing has to stretch across the whole fight. Don’t burn your last heals just before a wave ends.
Be ready to dodge the moment you land the final hit on a wave. That matters most at the end of wave 1, since the two Shadow Assassins appear right next to you.
In wave 3, keep moving while you trade blows with the Golden Assassin Puppet. Standing still gives the Alloy Cannon Puppets an easy target for their explosive shots.
What happens if you die during the yard fight
In our run, the fight picked up at the wave where the run had ended, and its enemies had returned to full health.
