Progression in Grand Blue runs through its people. Fighting style trainers hand you new combat kits, quest givers push the story forward and drop treasure maps or Gold, and merchants stock the rods, seeds, and ships you need for everything else. The trouble is that these characters are spread across three islands, and finding the exact one can eat up a lot of sailing time.
Quick answer: Every important NPC lives on Anchor Town, Clown Town, or Maple Village. Trainers teach fighting styles and skills, quest givers unlock rewards and story steps, and merchants buy and sell gear. Trainers carry a red exclamation mark above their heads, so use that marker plus the landmarks below to walk straight to the one you need. You can jump into the game on the official Roblox experience page.
Fighting style trainer locations
These are the NPCs who teach fighting styles and combat skills. Each one hands you a chain of repetitive tasks, from emotes and exercises to dealing set amounts of damage, and you must clear them to master the style. Most sit on Anchor Town, with the Marksman waiting on Maple Village.
| NPC | Teaches | Where to find them |
|---|---|---|
| Wallace | Brawler fighting style | Anchor Town, working out on the docks near the fishing shop |
| Shiro | Novice Swordsman fighting style | Anchor Town, by the pond area to the left of the Town |
| Sushi | King’s Punch skill | Anchor Town, in the training dummy area where you first meet Officer Greaves |
| Loki | Trickster fighting style | Anchor Town (left side of the Harbor), then Clown Town (in a seat on the giant Ferris Wheel) |
| Captain Esopo | Marksman fighting style | Maple Village, near the Black Noir Pirates Raid area |
Note: Loki’s Trickster chain is a two-part job. Finish his item-fetch task on Anchor Town first, then sail to Clown Town and climb the Ferris Wheel using the wooden beams. His second questline also expects you to already own the Pickpocket and Pocket Sand skills, which drop from the Hoarder miniboss on Anchor Town.
The Marksman trainer appears under a couple of different display names, and the exact path down the Maple Village slope can vary between servers. Because the game is in Early Access, trust the in-game red marker and the name shown in your own session over any single label.

Quest givers keep progression moving. Most simply offer repeatable jobs for Gold, materials, and levels, but a few unlock bigger rewards like treasure maps or a shot at a Cursed Fruit. Tip: accept fewer quests than your tracker can display clearly, especially on mobile, so you do not lose credit or forget an objective before leaving an island.
Anchor Town quest givers
| NPC | What they offer | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Keeper Otis | Keeper of the Flame, fetching lamp oil from the harbor supply crates | On top of the Lighthouse |
| Fisherman Jack | Multiple reward and progression quests | Standing on the docks |
| Two-Worm Terry | Multiple reward and progression quests | On the beach near Captain Jack’s Sea Sailer Shop |
| Nessa | Multiple reward and progression quests | Sitting across from the Aria Musician in the Harbor |
| Maeve | Multiple reward and progression quests | On a bench in the City area |
| Craftsman Henry | Multiple reward and progression quests | Inside the Blacksmith Building near the City area |
| Almighty Calvin | Side quest that can lead to Calvin’s Treasure and a Cursed Fruit | On a rock to the right of the Blacksmith building |
| Wade | Quests rewarding Treasure Maps, Gold, and more | On a platform at the Coast, behind the West Marine Base tower |
| Miner Song Kim Wu | Multiple reward and progression quests | Inside the Mines in the Coast area |
| Miner Sung Jil Wu | Multiple reward and progression quests | Inside the Mines in the Coast area |
| Jay Vonera | Opens the Marine Base gate for 25 Gold | Sitting to the left of the Marine Base gate |
| Captive Swordsman | Multiple reward and progression quests | Tied to a cross inside the Marine Base |
For Almighty Calvin, look up and behind the houses rather than searching at street level, and accept the quest before you interact with any shovel or dig target so the tracker can lead you through the current version. The Captive Swordsman connects into the early axe-hand boss story on the Marine route.
Clown Town quest givers
| NPC | What they offer | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Mayor Kiyoshi | Story chain that leads toward the clown boss | Outside a house in the Harbor area |
| Johnny Nibblebottom | Repeatable clown-officer leveling quests | At the Town entrance when arriving from the Clownival side |
| Gambit | Multiple reward and progression quests | On a horse in the mini-horse ride in the Clownival |
| Clowny D. Clown | Multiple reward and progression quests | On the platform on Clown’s Hub near the whale fountain |
| Benny | Multiple reward and progression quests | Outside a house near the whale fountain |
| Stephon | Multiple reward and progression quests | Hiding among crates and barrels near the Beast Tamer boss spawn |
| Billy B. | Multiple reward and progression quests | In a meat shop near the Killer Clown mob area |
| Sadistic Clown | Multiple reward and progression quests | On a platform near the Killer Clown mob area |
Combine the clown boss with Johnny’s repeatable loop only when the boss is actually present and the quest credit is clear. Don’t sit and wait on a copied respawn timer; keep running normal objectives while the encounter is unavailable.
Maple Village quest givers
| NPC | What they offer | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Martha | Multiple reward and progression quests | Near a well across from the Mansion entrance |
| Remy | Multiple reward and progression quests | Inside the Kitchen of the Mansion |
| Farmer Joe | Multiple reward and progression quests | Near a small farm, straight ahead from the Mansion entrance |
| Chicken Hank | Multiple reward and progression quests | Near the same small farm past the Mansion entrance |
| Gus | Repeatable progression quests for the late-game route | Near the Black Noir Officer mob area |
Merchant and shop NPC locations
Weapons, accessories, ships, and fishing or farming supplies all come from a handful of merchants. Two of them show up on more than one island, so check the closest stall before sailing across the map for the same seller.
| NPC | Stock | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Smuggler | Weapons, Accessories, Outfits, and Equipment for Gold | Anchor Town Harbor stall; Clown Town stall next to Mayor Kiyoshi’s house |
| Merchant | Buys your items for Gold | Anchor Town Harbor stall; Clown Town stall in the left corner of the Beast Tamer boss area |
| Ricky | Worms and Fishing Rods | Anchor Town docks, near the Brawler trainer |
| Captain Jones | Rowboat and Transponder Snail | Anchor Town Beach, inside Captain Jack’s Sea Sailer Shop |
| Merry | The biggest ship in the game for 15,000 Gold | Maple Village, inside the building on the docks (also sells fish and a Fiberglass Rod) |
| Charlie | Farming gear, including Seeds and Watering Cans | Maple Village, in a garden on the left side of the Mansion |
| Tomoe | Opens a Gullport Maritime Trust account to deposit Gold safely | At Sea, inside a ship sailing across the water |
When an NPC or name doesn’t match
Because Grand Blue is still in Early Access, some display names and exact paths shift between updates. A few characters are known to appear under different spellings, so match the role and landmark first, then confirm the name your own server shows.
- If a quest giver offers nothing, finish your previous story hand-in and step out of combat, then talk to them again.
- If the interaction opens the wrong prompt in a crowded stall, step away and approach from a different angle so you don’t accidentally select a nearby shop.
- If the next island stays locked, return to the last story contact and read every line; a boat can’t replace a missing prerequisite.
New areas and characters get added as the game expands, so the lineups above cover the contacts you need to reach the current end-game content across all three islands.
