Photos of a large black box stamped with “Vice City: Leonida” and the Grand Theft Auto VI logo spread across X over the past few days, and with them came a familiar hope: that Rockstar Games is quietly sitting on a Collector’s Edition with a real disc inside. The person who posted the images said they worked on the packaging at a Mexican printing plant. The photos are now gone, and nothing about them has been verified.
Quick answer: There is no GTA 6 Collector’s Edition to pre-order. Rockstar has announced exactly two versions, the $79.99 Standard Edition and the $99.99 Ultimate Edition, and the physical Standard SKU is a download code in a box with no disc.

Pre-orders opened in late June, and the lineup has not changed since. Nothing in Rockstar’s marketing, including the Netflix Extended Look trailer, has pointed to a third tier.

The “Vice City: Leonida” box leak, explained
The images came from an account posting as a short-term packaging worker at Unique Services Group in Mexico, a company that handles graphics, printing, and packaging. Two shots circulated: a close-up of a plain black box with “Vice City: Leonida” printed on the top and the GTA 6 logo on the sides, plus a wider shot of the boxes stacked in what looks like a warehouse or backroom.
The poster said they had spent about a month on the packaging job and photographed it during that stretch. They also described the box as physically larger than a PlayStation 5 console box, with several internal compartments, including a “circular piece” that a disc could fit into. The images were picked up and reshared widely, then deleted, with the poster citing the risk of legal action from Take-Two or Rockstar.
Note: nobody with real access has authenticated the photos, and Rockstar has said nothing about them. A fair number of people who saw them argued they were AI-generated in the first place.
Why the disc slot claim is the weakest part
The “circular piece” line is what turned a blurry packaging photo into a story, because it implies Rockstar reversed course on discs. Two things undercut it. First, it was the poster’s own guess about what the compartment was for, and they later walked the idea back while still insisting the photos themselves were real. Second, Rockstar’s physical release is a code in a box, and nothing official has changed that.
There is also a mundane explanation for a big branded box that never reaches shelves. Press kits and influencer packages get printed in production runs too, and they tend to look exactly like this: oversized, black, logo on the outside, compartments inside for whatever trinkets are going out to reviewers and creators. Where the $200 to $250 price figure comes from
No price exists for a product Rockstar has not announced, so every number attached to this is an estimate. The most circulated figure traces back to Portuguese YouTuber Ricfazeres, who read out information from a source putting a Collector’s Edition at 199.99 euros, which would land somewhere around $199.99 to $229.99 in the US if it were accurate. He mentioned it in passing and did not describe any of the contents.
The $200 to $250 range you have probably seen quoted since is a straight extrapolation from that euro figure, not a separate leak. Treat it as a guess built on a guess.
What a Rockstar collector’s box normally contains
If a box like this does surface, the Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector’s Box is the closest template. It shipped as a set of physical keepsakes, including a metal lockbox, a coin, and a treasure map, and it did not include the game at all. No disc, no digital code. Buyers had to purchase a copy separately.
That matters for expectations. A large GTA 6 box could hold a SteelBook case, clothing, or a printed map of Leonida and still not be the thing most people are asking for, which is a playable disc in a proper collector’s package like GTA 5 shipped with. A pretty box and a playable disc are separate questions.
Earlier claims about multiple GTA 6 editions
This is not the first collector’s edition rumor of the cycle. Back before pre-orders opened, leaker DetectiveSeeds claimed GTA VI would launch with six purchase options: three digital and physical tiers, one rarer version “with some stuff,” and two console bundles tied to standard and Pro PS5 hardware. He said the bundles would not contain a physical copy and declined to publish pricing.
What actually shipped to storefronts was two editions plus console bundles. The “rarer version” never appeared, which is a useful reminder of how these predictions tend to age.
How to confirm a Collector’s Edition if one is real
There is only one signal worth acting on, and it is not a photo. A genuine edition would show up as a purchasable SKU with a listed price and contents, and it would appear on the Rockstar Games site alongside the Standard and Ultimate listings, then at retailers. Until you can add it to a cart with a stated price, nothing has changed.
Warning signs that a “leak” is not going anywhere are just as consistent. Deleted photos with no follow-up, an anonymous account that stops replying, no price and no contents list, and no acknowledgment from Rockstar or Take-Two. Every one of those applies here.
The demand is obviously real. Killing the disc and skipping a proper collector’s tier left a gap for the biggest release of the year, and people are searching for something to spend money on that feels appropriate to the occasion. A box could still surface before or after launch, and Rockstar has held back reveals before.
