Halo: Campaign Evolved — Every Main and Bonus Mission in Order

All 13 missions across the original campaign and Operation: METEORITE, with each mission's Skulls and Terminal.

All 13 missions across the original campaign and Operation: METEORITE, with each mission’s Skulls and Terminal.

Halo: Campaign Evolved holds 13 playable missions. Ten come straight from the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign and run in the same order fans remember, while three all-new bonus missions form a prologue set one year earlier. The remake launches July 28, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Quick answer: Play the ten main missions from The Pillar of Autumn through The Maw for the classic story. The three bonus missions (Boarding Action, The Most Dangerous Game, Heavy Burden) sit in a separate menu, can be played in any order, and can be skipped entirely.

All 10 main campaign missions in order

The core campaign is the rebuilt version of Master Chief and Cortana’s fight against the Covenant on the ringworld Halo. The mission order matches the 2001 original exactly. Each level holds three Skulls and one Terminal to collect.

Playing the main missions alone runs roughly 10 hours. Chasing every Skull and Terminal pushes that higher, and the campaign supports up to four players online plus two-player split-screen on consoles.

The 3 bonus missions: Operation: METEORITE

The bonus missions make up Operation: METEORITE, a prequel arc set one year before the events of Combat Evolved. Master Chief and Sgt. Avery Johnson infiltrate a Covenant agricultural ship in orbit over the glassed human colony of Promise, hunting for data that could point toward the Covenant homeworld, High Charity. Along the way they fight Sacristan warriors, free captured UNSC marines, and survive experiments overseen by the San’Shyuum Minister of Harmony.

How the two sets of missions are structured

The game keeps the two mission sets apart. The original campaign is bundled together as a single continuous run, and the three bonus missions are listed separately so you can play them on their own. They are not woven into the main story, so you can jump straight into The Pillar of Autumn if you want the classic experience with nothing added.

Newcomers and returning players both gain from playing the prologue first, since it shows what happened before the crash landing on Halo. Either way, all 13 missions carry their own Skulls and Terminals, so completionists have collectibles to track in every level.

Campaign Remix and the expanded weapon set

Any mission from either set can be replayed in Campaign Remix, a mode that shuffles enemies, weapons, visibility effects, and Skulls to change how each encounter plays out. Skulls can also be switched on during a normal playthrough, not only in Remix.

Across all missions you can use weapons that never appeared in the 2001 game, including the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, Needle Rifle, and Brute Plasma Rifle. Nine extra armaments join the full original arsenal, and they show up in the classic levels as well as the new ones. Full details live on the official Halo: Campaign Evolved page.

Whether you start with the prologue or head straight for the ringworld, the 13-mission lineup gives you the complete Combat Evolved story plus three chapters of new setup, each with its own Skulls and Terminal to hunt down.
