Hellraiser: Revival — How to Beat Bruno’s First Fight

Clear the bottles, kite him around the table, and banish him the moment he glows blue.

Clear the bottles, kite him around the table, and banish him the moment he glows blue.

Bruno, the deranged artist you put a bullet in earlier, comes back for the first real difficulty spike in Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival. He hits hard, he barely flinches, and the room you fight him in is cramped. A few clean mistakes will kill you. Beating him comes down to prep work before the fight and disciplined spacing once it starts.

Quick answer: Break every bottle and drop spare weapons in the room beforehand, fight with hit-and-run melee (two swings then dodge), kite his blood-puddle rush around the central table, kill the cultist reinforcements fast, then press A (Xbox) / X (PlayStation) when he glows blue to banish him.

Prepare the room before you pick up the mask

The fight triggers when you interact with the mask on the ground, so do not touch it until the room is set up. Two bits of prep make the whole encounter easier.

Head back to the room containing the table and break every bottle you spot. Bruno picks them up during combat, hurling them at you or using them to stop your telekinetic shots. With the bottles gone, he can’t use that move.

Next, collect and set down any weapons in the elevator corridor beside the table. This gives you backups to grab if your weapon breaks during the fight, so you won’t be left without one.

Fight with hit-and-run melee

Your movement space is tight and Bruno’s melee swings do serious damage, so the whole fight is about trading small amounts of damage and getting out. Land a maximum of two hits, then dodge away. He does not stagger when struck, which means he can swing through your attacks and still connect if you greed for a third hit.

A blunt or bladed melee weapon is your main tool here. Guns work too, but it takes a lot of rounds to drop him with a pistol or shotgun, and you will burn through most of your ammo if you rely on them early. Save the firearms for the back half of the fight, where the faster damage helps you close things out.

Keep a machete or similar blade in reserve on the kitchen counter in the back corner. Switching to it once your ammo runs dry gives you a reliable finisher for the last stretch.

Dodge the blood-puddle rush

Bruno’s deadliest attack turns him into a living blood pool that glides along the floor in your direction. A collision pulls you into it; mash the Right Trigger to get free. The damage can kill you outright when your health is low.

As soon as Bruno becomes a puddle, get moving and use the table in the middle of the room as cover. In this state he moves straight ahead and struggles to make tight turns, so running around to the far side of the table lets you evade his charge. He typically makes two or three passes, then returns to his upright form.

You cannot damage him while he is a puddle, so just focus on staying out of its path. Sometimes he pops out early to attempt a melee swing instead. The same table kiting shuts that down. When he finally reforms or gets knocked to the ground, that is your opening to unload melee hits for a few seconds.

Kill the cultist reinforcements first

As Bruno gets back up he calls in help. An undead cultist bursts through the side room to join the fight, and managing two enemies at once in a space this small is where runs fall apart. Drop whatever you are doing and kill the new enemy immediately.

This is the right moment to spend shotgun ammo or any spare telekinetic objects you can throw. With the cultist dead, you can start shooting Bruno in the head if you still have ammo. His attacks stay the same but he grows more aggressive as the fight drags on, and more crawling zombies will eventually show up, so clear them quickly whenever they appear.

Banish Bruno and grab the scalpel

Once he has taken enough damage, Bruno will glow blue. That is the cue to finish the fight. Rush over and press A (Xbox) / X (PlayStation) to banish him back to the Labyrinth. Chains lock him in place and a cutscene plays, confirming the fight is over.

He sinks into the floor, leaving the scalpel on a bloodstained tile; this essential item is yours to collect from his body. Search the room for leftover resources, then ride the elevator upstairs.
