How to Beat Aqua in Deltarune Chapter 5

Spare her with all five ACTs in the first fight, then survive the Seth team-ups that follow.

Spare her with all five ACTs in the first fight, then survive the Seth team-ups that follow.

Aqua is the spinning-knife miniboss you keep running into across the Flower Kingdom in Deltarune Chapter 5. She first shows up as ??? before her name is revealed, and she fights you alone, then alongside Seth, and finally as a duo. The win condition changes each time, so knowing what each fight wants from you is the fastest way through.

Quick answer: In the first encounter you can only use Kris. Cycle through all five ACTs — Check, Spin, TakeCare, Pose, and Dance — to raise Aqua’s mercy by 20% each. At 100% she launches an Omega Attack; survive it and the battle ends.

Who Aqua is and how she fights

Aqua is a light blue humanoid Darkner with a dress, long black hair, and a heart-shaped ribbon. Her whole gimmick is a legion of floating knives she spins around the arena, and her dialogue carries a cyan tint with a knife replacing her face sprite while she talks. She’s playful, naive, and very violent, and her behavior leans heavily on Jevil, right down to the “UEE HEE HEE” laugh and references to THE WORLD REVOLVING.

For combat purposes, the key takeaway is movement. Her knife patterns punish overreacting, so keep your SOUL still and only shift after a blade passes. This same discipline carries through every version of her fight.

First Aqua fight: spare her with all five ACTs

You reach Aqua by following the linear path after the second watering can and the green tea chest. The first battle locks you to Kris alone, which means you cannot rely on Susie or Ralsei’s combination ACTs here. The route to victory is mercy, not damage.

Open the ACT menu and use each option once. The five available ACTs are Check, Spin, TakeCare, Pose, and Dance.
Track her mercy as it climbs 20% per ACT. Using all five brings her to 100%.
At full mercy, Aqua triggers an Omega Attack styled after the patience SOUL’s pattern from the Omega Flowey fight in Undertale. Stay calm, hold position, and dodge through it.

Survive that final pattern, and the encounter resolves. Clearing it grants the Petal Feather, an item that lets you jump and change the terrain. That mechanic turns the next stretch into a platforming section, so grab it and follow the path to the shrine.

Second fight: Aqua and Seth with the giant glasses

Later on, Aqua reappears with her companion Seth. A giant pair of eyeglasses spawns above the party and starts raining knives down on you. Raw attacks won’t open the fight, so you need to disable the glasses first.

Target the arms of the glasses to send Ralsei latching onto them.
With Ralsei holding the spectacles down, line up your hits while they’re pinned.
Keep pressuring until the glasses break, then continue along the trail Seth and Aqua leave behind.

Final duel: defeating Aqua and Seth together

The last confrontation kicks off after the party is blown away by the wind and Seth gets angry that Aqua gave away her Petal Feather. You face both at once, and their attacks layer on top of each other.

ThreatHow to handle it
Aqua’s knivesSame spinning patterns as before. Stay still and only move after a blade clears your SOUL.
Seth’s homing bombsBait them by standing in a corner of the box. When a bomb dashes toward you, move away to dodge the blast.
Seth alone (words phase)After Aqua goes rogue and leaves, avoid the words flying across the screen.

The fight ends on its own once Aqua returns and pulls Seth out of the battle. You don’t have to fully grind Seth down in the final words phase; surviving until Aqua comes back is what closes the encounter. With the duo gone, the path forward to the Flower Castle opens up.

How to know each Aqua fight is over

Each version of the fight gives a clear signal that it worked. The first battle ends after you survive the Omega Attack at 100% mercy, and you walk away with the Petal Feather. The glasses fight closes when the spectacles shatter under Ralsei’s hold. The final duel wraps when Aqua takes Seth away, leaving the route to the Flower Castle clear.

If the first fight stalls, the most common reason is trying to attack instead of ACT — Aqua is built to be spared, not beaten down, when it’s just Kris. Run all five ACTs in order and focus on dodging her knives, and she’ll yield every time.
