Requirements before queuing Legend difficulty
Blackclad must be cleared once in its original story environment before it becomes a repeatable Campaign Challenge. After that first clear, you never need to replay the questline. The rematch is what carries the difficulty selector, and Legend is the highest setting available.
Every Campaign Challenge run on Legend draws from your Energy pool, with each attempt costing 20 Energy. The one-time first clear does not require Energy, so plan farming sessions for when your Energy is full. Match or exceed the recommended level shown on the boss panel before you commit, since Legend punishes underleveled gear far more than it punishes the occasional missed input.
How to start the Blackclad fight on Legend
Step 1: Open the main menu and go to Wandering Paths, then Challenges. Find the Blackclad campaign entry in the list and select it.
Step 2: Switch the difficulty selector to Legend and confirm your Energy is high enough for the run. The map will show the boss location alongside the available rewards.
Step 3: Use the Teleport button to drop into the arena, then decide whether to bring a Companion or summon before approaching the boss. Healing support and aggro pulls reduce pressure during long melee strings, which matters more at this tier.
Parry and dodge rules that carry the fight
The same combat rules that apply across Where Winds Meet are what keep you alive here without overgearing. Read the attack cue, respond with the correct defensive option, then punish the opening.

The Execute prompt only appears in melee range. On Legend, the exhaust window is short, so move in the instant the Qi bar empties instead of continuing a ranged combo. Holding the Execute input until the last moment of the stagger squeezes the most damage out of it.
Strategic Sword and Spear setup for Legend
Strategic Sword is a Sword-type martial art on the Bellstrike – Umbra discipline path, used as a Melee DPS skill. It is not granted by joining a sect. You unlock it through Skill Theft at the Strategic Sword Sanctum, which then enables the move set on your Sword weapon.
Step 1: Equip a Sword that does not yet have the Strategic Sword martial art. The game reads the equipped weapon to detect the missing art and surface the theft prompt.
Step 2: Open the menu, go to Develop, select your active sword martial art, scroll to Strategic Sword, and choose Obtain. The map marks the Strategic Sword Sanctum.
Step 3: Travel to the Sanctum, use the Veil of Stillness stealth state to approach the master unseen, and perform the Skill Theft. A successful steal unlocks Strategic Sword for use and upgrade.
For the fight itself, bring a build that already clears Blackclad cleanly on a lower difficulty, then push the tier up rather than learning the moveset fresh on Legend.

Rewards from Legend reruns
Repeat clears feed directly into martial arts and gear progression. Campaign Challenge runs hand out set pieces, a campaign cosmetic chest, Path Tips for raising your martial arts level, Oscillating Jade, coins, and Character EXP, with the tier of set pieces scaling to your Solo Mode Level. Some runs also include Inner Way Note chests and Attunement Stones at higher Solo Mode tiers. Certain Talent rows under the boss only open after you have spent a set amount of Energy on the fight, which is where repeated Legend runs pay off.
Confirming the Legend run counted
You know a Legend clear registered when the post-fight screen deducts your Energy and lists Legend-tier rewards. The boss entry updates its highest cleared difficulty marker, and any Talent waiting on additional Energy investment ticks its progress forward.
If the results screen shows only first-clear items and no Energy was spent, the game logged it as the introductory clear instead of a Legend farm. Re-enter the challenge and verify Legend is selected before confirming, since the difficulty can reset to the lowest tier between sessions in some menus.
