- You can disable calls in the Phone Link app from the Features section.
- Another solution is to temporarily turn the app off from the Settings page.
- If you do not wish to use any of the features of the app, you can disable it.
Turn off the calls feature
- Open the Phone Link app and click on the gear icon at the top right to open the Settings.
- Next, click on the 'Features' icon that appears as three small squares with horizontal lines on the right.
- On the Features page, tap on the toggle on the right of the 'Calls' option to disable it. If you want, you can also disable notifications, messages, and photo access from here.
Turn off the Phone Link app
You can also temporarily turn off the Phone Link app from the Settings app.
- Open the Settings app and click on 'Bluetooth and Devices' on the left.
- On the Bluetooth and Devices page, scroll down and click on the 'Mobile Devices' option.
- Here, tap on the toggle on the right of the Phone Link option to turn it off.
Disable the Phone Link app
A more drastic measure involves disabling the Phone Link app from starting when you log in to Windows.
- Open the Task Manager by right-clicking on the taskbar and then clicking on 'Task Manager'. Alternatively, you can use the
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
shortcut.
- When the Task Manager opens, click on the 'Startup apps' tab on the left and then look for the Phone Link app on the right.
- Right-click on the Phone Link app and click on 'Disable'.
- Next, open the Phone Link settings page and click on the arrow on the right of the 'App Behavior' setting.
- Finally, click on the 'Start Phone Link when I sign in to Windows' option to disable it. Make sure it is unchecked.
- Open the Start menu, type
powershell
, and click on 'Run as administrator'.
- In the Powershell window, type
Get-AppxPackage -Name Microsoft.YourPhone -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage3.
and press Enter.
Note: If the Phone Link app is already running, you can stop it from the Task Manager's 'Processes' tab in case you do not want to immediately reboot your PC after disabling the app.
Things to know
- Installing Windows Updates or updating the Phone Link app may reset your settings and re-enable the Calls feature, so you may have to disable it again.
- The different methods of disabling the Phone Link app result in the same outcome, so which one you use depends on your preference.
- The Phone Link app requires certain permissions on your smartphone to work properly. You can revoke permission for calls to disable the app from making and managing phone calls.
- You can also stop the Phone Link app from running in the background on your smartphone to prevent it from handling calls.
- If you have connected your device via Phone Link but do not use the app, consider disconnecting it. You can always add it again later when needed.
