The Scrap-Cannon is a Harpoon Gun added to Fisch in The Deep update on August 8, 2026, and it lives entirely in the game’s new underground zone. You earn it from Sledge, an NPC stationed in the Outer Deep, by working through the opening stretch of his questline. It looks the part too, built like a battered steampunk launcher with blue-and-orange metal plating, wooden fittings, rope wraps, and a long segmented barrel.

Quick answer: Travel to The Deep, find Sledge by the 1P-4 beacon in the Outer Deep, then complete his first quest (Restoring 1P-4) and his second quest (Scrap Extraction). The Scrap-Cannon is handed to you the moment the second quest is done.

Scrap-Cannon stats and passives

The Scrap-Cannon is tuned around burst progress rather than raw power. Its abilities give you a head start in the pull minigame and boost your odds of unusual catches, which offsets its modest base numbers.

Velocity10/ps

On top of those numbers, the Scrap-Cannon carries a set of effects that shape how it plays:

  • Mutation: 30% chance for Rusty (0.7×).
  • Progress Bar Boost: +30% progress at the start of the minigame.
  • Progress Speed: -10% Progress Speed.
  • Miscellaneous: 3× chance for Rare Finds.

The Scrap-Cannon launched in Version 1.96.0. A follow-up patch, Version 1.96.1, raised its Scavenging effect from 1× to 3×, which is why its Rare Finds bonus now reads 3×.

Reach The Deep first

Sledge and everything tied to the Scrap-Cannon sit inside The Deep, so you need access to that underground area before anything else.

Head to the northernmost part of the map and find the boat floating above the coordinates -194, 130, -4669. This vessel marks the entry point down into The Deep.
Speak with the NPC on the boat to pick up the Deep Survey Device. You cannot explore the zone without it, so grab it before you dive.

With the device equipped, swim down beneath the boat to enter The Deep. Once inside, make your way to the Outer Deep and look for the Sledge NPC near the 1P-4 beacon.

Complete Sledge’s first two quests

Sledge offers a four-quest chain that ends in the Titanium Shaft, but the Scrap-Cannon drops much earlier. You only need to finish the first two quests to claim it.

Quest 1: Restoring 1P-4

This is the main quest for the area. Every material here comes from fishing inside The Deep.

  • Collect 25 Chitin Plate for Sledge.
  • Collect 20 Salinga Scrap for Sledge.
  • Collect 1 Refined Scrap for Sledge.
  • Collect 1 Hardened Chitin for Sledge.

Once you have handed over all four items, talk to Sledge again to receive the Reinforced Housing. Interact with the 1P-4 beacon to install it, and the quest closes out.

Quest 2: Scrap Extraction

The second quest is short and asks for two junk catches. Both require Magnet bait, and you can use either a fishing rod or a Harpoon Gun to reel them in.

  • Broken Flashlight: Fish with Magnet bait in the Outer Deep.
  • Bent Harpoon: Fish with Magnet bait in the Lower Deep.

Turn both items in to Sledge to finish Scrap Extraction. Completing this quest is what awards the Scrap-Cannon, so it will appear in your inventory as soon as the quest registers as done. If it does not show up, confirm that both the Broken Flashlight and the Bent Harpoon were actually handed over and that the first quest was fully closed by installing the Reinforced Housing at the beacon.

From here, Sledge’s remaining quests continue toward the Titanium Shaft, but the harpoon itself is already yours. With its +30% starting progress and triple Rare Finds chance, the Scrap-Cannon is a solid pick for hunting Roamers throughout The Deep.
