Halloween: The Game shipped its early access build with a closet “hookup” activity called the Two-Person Power-Up, and IllFonic removed it in a hotfix days before the full launch. The developer has since called the way it worked a “major oversight,” specifically because end-game reinforcement characters could take part alongside the teenage survivors.
Quick answer: The Two-Person Power-Up minigame is gone. A hotfix pulled it after players found that the 56-year-old Samuel Loomis and other adult reinforcement characters could enter the closet with 17-year-old survivors. IllFonic says more content and minigames are planned, but has not confirmed if or when this one returns.

What the Two-Person Power-Up closet minigame did
The mechanic was an optional multiplayer activity built as a nod to the “sex signals death” slasher trope that runs through the Halloween films. Two survivors would step into a closet, and one could “ask out” the other to begin the interaction.
Once started, both players mashed buttons to fill two bars while keeping a small heart gauge inside the correct zone. Nothing was shown on screen. You only heard the audio and saw the camera shake, and finishing it successfully granted a small buff to both characters.
The reward was minor, and the activity was never required to win a match. It also left both survivors exposed, giving whoever played Michael Myers a chance to interrupt the moment and score an easy kill.

The problem was not the activity itself but which characters could use it. The minigame placed no restriction on who could pair up, and several of the playable characters are under-18 teens pulled from the films, including 17-year-old Lynda van der Klok and 17-year-old Annie Brackett.
The clear outlier is Samuel Loomis, who is 56 in the game and carries the likeness of the late actor Donald Pleasence. A clip circulated showing Loomis entering the closet with a teenage survivor, and players also flagged that adult police reinforcement characters could do the same. That combination is what drove the swift response.
The takedown came in Hotfix 1, which arrived while the game was still only in advance access for Deluxe Edition buyers. The patch notes did not mention the minigame directly, but the activity was confirmed gone across the game’s community channels.

IllFonic’s “major oversight” statement
IllFonic later addressed the removal directly, framing it as an unintended issue rather than an intentional cut of the core idea.
Players may have noticed that our latest hotfix removed the Two-Person Power-Up minigame. This was due to an unintended issue that allowed end-game reinforcement characters to engage with the minigame, which was a major oversight on our part. We have more content and minigames coming in the near future but current focus is our attention on immediate game needs.
The wording points at the character eligibility bug as the trigger. It stops short of confirming whether the closet activity comes back in a reworked form, saying only that the team is focused on immediate needs and pointing players to its social channels for updates.
Current status and whether it returns
As of now, the minigame is not in the live game. No official date has been confirmed for a reworked version, and the studio has not said it will definitely come back. A likely path would be to keep the trope-based activity but restrict which characters can trigger it, so adult reinforcements are locked out.
Here are the launch details for the game the removal applies to.
| Detail | Info |

| Platforms | PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) |

| Minigame status | Removed in Hotfix 1 |
If you want to verify the change on your own copy, launch the game after applying the latest hotfix and look for the heart prompt in a closet with two survivors. If the prompt no longer appears, the Two-Person Power-Up is disabled on your build. You can also confirm the update on the official Steam listing.

The base game keeps its Mature rating and its core loop of a killer hunting survivors, so the removal only affects this single optional activity. For anyone tracking the fate of the closet mechanic, IllFonic’s social channels remain the place where any reworked version would be announced first.
