Your iPhone screen not turning on after updating to iOS 12? Fret not; you’re not alone. Many users have reported this issue where turning the brightness to the lowest setting causes the screen to go completely dark on an iPhone running iOS 12.

The simple fix to this problem is to turn up the brightness by using Siri or force restart the iPhone and then turn up the brightness.

Call Siri on your iPhone by holding the side button on iPhone X, or by pressing the home button on iPhone 8 and the previous iPhone models. Tell Siri to “set brightness to the full” and it’ll bring back your display.

If you cannot use Siri, force restart your iPhone using the following key combinations:

  1. Press and release the Volume Up button once.
  2. Press and release the Volume Down button once.
  3. Press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo on the screen.

Once your iPhone has restarted, the display will reset to a brightness setting slightly more than the lowest level.

We hope Apple releases a fix soon for the brightness issue on iOS 12 which causes the screen to go completely dark. Until then, do not set brightness to the lowest setting on your device.
