Bale is a Lieutenant in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ. Bale holds a building with guards and fires an LMG down long hallways. A direct push down those hallways puts you in front of the gun. Flank Bale and win the fight, and you get a Legendary dog tag and a Type 73-based LMG.

Quick answer: Find Bale at the Re-Education Center or the Chang-San Air Base Bunker. Flank the LMG fire on the upper floor, then loot BALE’S DOG TAG and a Dreadnought or Type 73 LMG.

Bale location in MW4 DMZ

Bale does not stay at one point of interest. The LIEUTENANT / BALE banner has appeared at two locations, and each one carries a very different compass threat level.

Point of interestCompass threatWhere Bale is
RE-EDUCATION CENTERMEDIUMUpper floor, up the interior stairs
CHANG-SAN AIR BASE BUNKEREXTREMEInside the bunker

Before you commit to a building, check that the Lieutenant banner and the side-op marker both point to Bale. The bunker is the much more dangerous of the two locations, so plan your loadout to match the EXTREME rating.

Buying Bale intel on the Boss Board

To go after Bale on purpose, open the Boss Board at the FOB. Bale’s card lists REWARD $10,000 and BUY INTEL: $25000. After you buy it, the card is tagged PURCHASED. In the match, the side op first reads “Paid Intel: Reach Bale” and then changes to “Paid Intel: Kill Bale”. Without bought intel, the objective reads “Kill Bale”. The terminal on a Lieutenant Hunt tower is another way to mark the nearest Lieutenant on the tac map.

How to beat Bale at the Re-Education Center

The upper floor is a set of offices joined by long corridors with yellow walls. Smoke and green gas fill parts of those corridors. Guards hold the rooms and doorways between you and Bale, and the fight ends near a balcony at the far end of the floor.

Go inside, then climb the stairs within the building to the upper floor. Near the staircase’s top, beside an upstairs door, you’ll find the LIEUTENANT / BALE banner.
Clear the guards one room at a time through the offices and corridors. Use the side offices as safe spots to plate up between fights.
Avoid advancing along an extended corridor toward Bale; the LMG controls that route. In squad play, have one teammate keep Bale occupied while another fires from a separate doorway or an alternate angle.
From outside the hallway, use a scoped rifle to hit Bale at its far end and wear Bale down without entering the passage.
Once Bale is wounded, move forward and finish Bale at close quarters with an assault rifle. Bale falls on the balcony beside the door at the corridor’s end.

In a short fight, you can catch Bale in one of the upstairs offices instead. In that case, fire in from the doorway and use the desks as cover.

The kill popup reads ELIMINATED LIEUTENANT. An assist on the kill pays 575 XP.

Bale drops: dog tag and Type 73 LMG

Bale drops a Legendary dog tag and one LMG, which lands on the floor next to the body. The LMG is either the Dreadnought or a plain Type 73.

DREADNOUGHTLEGENDARYLMG (TYPE 73)$8,000
TYPE 73RARELMG$2,000

The Dreadnought is a Type 73 with a 100-round magazine. It comes with five attachments in the barrel, optic, rear grip, stock and magazine slots, including a 100 ROUND BOX MAG. The exact set of attachments can vary from one drop to the next. The plain Type 73 also holds 100 rounds.

The dog tag card shows BOUNTY $25K, KILLER and TIME OF DEATH. It also carries a warning: “All other operators can see this case’s location on the tac map.” Once you carry it, other operators can see that case on the tac map.

Keep a backpack slot free before the fight. If your backpack is full, the game shows BACKPACK FULL and will not let you take the dog tag.

BALE’S DOG TAG is credited to the Boss Board only after you extract while carrying it.
