Orgrimmar Mining Trainer Location: Where to Find Makaru

Makaru is the Horde Mining trainer in Orgrimmar, and he handles everything from your first pick swing up to Artisan rank. He also teaches the smelting recipes you need to turn raw ore into bars. Both jobs happen in the same spot, next to a forge, so you can learn a skill and smelt right away.

Quick answer: Head to the Valley of Honor in northeastern Orgrimmar and enter the Red Canyon Mining shop at coordinates 73.0, 27.0. Makaru stands inside next to the Mining Supplier, Gorina.

Where Makaru is in the Valley of Honor

The Valley of Honor is the district in the northeastern corner of Orgrimmar, and it holds the city’s crafting hub. Makaru is an Orc trainer tucked inside the Red Canyon Mining shop near the center of that district, with a forge and anvil right outside the doorway.

Go into Orgrimmar, then travel northeast to the Valley of Honor. Check your map to ensure you’re heading for the right district.

Follow the main street into the Valley of Honor and look toward the northeastern portion near the pathway and pond area. The mining shop is the building set apart by its outdoor forge.

Right-click Makaru to open the training window. Gorina, the Mining Supplier, stands nearby if you still need a Mining Pick, and the forge outside lets you smelt without leaving the area.

Mining ranks Makaru teaches

Makaru can train you across all four ranks, taking Mining all the way to 300. You can learn the next rank once your skill is within 25 points of the current cap, so there is no need to max out before returning.

Because the forge sits just outside the shop door, you can buy a smelting recipe and immediately turn your stockpiled ore into bars without walking anywhere else.

Confirming you trained the skill

You know the training worked when the window shows the rank as learned and your available options update. After learning your first rank, Mining appears in your profession list, and the new smelting recipes show up in your spellbook. If you have the ore and a forge in range, the recipe becomes usable right away.
