Palworld 1.0 shook up the old passive skill meta, and the roster of “correct” skills is no longer just Serenity, Demon God, Legend, and Musclehead. New passives changed the math for raids and carries, Musclehead dropped off the priority list entirely, and Diamond Body got reworked into a real damage-dealer’s pick. Here is the fast reference for which passives to stack on each kind of Pal.
Quick answer: Run Legend, Immortality, and Serenity as the universal core on most combat Pals, then flex an Elemental passive or Demon God for damage and Diamond Body or Sanctified Meat Shield when you need survivability. Adjust defense upward until your raid army stops dying to AoE or stealing aggro from you.

Combat passive skills and their effects (1.0)
Every build below is assembled from this pool of combat passives. Effects stack, so the goal is to pack the highest-value stat boosts into the three fixed passive slots and two flex slots on a Pal.
| Passive | Effects |
|---|---|
| Legend | +20% Attack, +20% Defense, +20% Movement Speed |
| Serenity | -30% cooldown, +10% Attack |
| Demon God | +30% Attack, +5% Defense |
| Immortality | +5% Lifesteal, +100% Regen, +15% Attack |
| Diamond Body | +30% Defense, immune to flinch and knockback |
| Elemental | +30% element damage |
| Lunker | +20% Ice/Water, +20% Defense |
| Twin-Edged Holy Blade | +50% Attack, -30% Defense |
| Sanctified Meat Shield | +50% Defense, -30% Attack |
| God of Destruction | +40% Attack, +20% Defense, -50% Max Health |
Two things changed the priority list in 1.0. Diamond Body now blocks flinching and knockback, which makes it a strong pick for damage dealers that keep getting interrupted, not just tanks. Immortality is one of the best raid-army passives because the health regeneration and lifesteal keep your Pals alive without any input from you.
Note: Several of the biggest attack passives, including Twin-Edged Holy Blade and God of Destruction, come with heavy downsides. Use them only when you can control aggro or swap Pals to protect the fragile carry.

Raid army builds
Raid Pals fight semi-independently, so the balance you want is enough offense to contribute and enough defense that they neither drop dead nor pull the boss off you. Start attack-heavy, then add defense one slot at a time until the army holds up.
| Build | Core passives | Flex | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raid Atk | Legend, Immortality, Serenity | Elemental, Demon God | Use Demon God on mixed-element Pals |
| Raid Def | Legend, Immortality, Diamond Body | Serenity, Sanctified Meat Shield | Add defense until the army survives AoE and stops taking aggro |
Party carry builds
A carry is the single Pal you lean on to deal the bulk of the damage. The right build depends on how much you can shield it from the boss. If you hold aggro well or swap on cue, go glass cannon. If you want a Pal that survives on its own, use the standard setup.
| Build | Core passives | Flex | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glass Cannon | Twin-Edged Holy Blade, God of Destruction, Elemental | Serenity, Demon God | Only with perfect player aggro or swapping |
| Standard Carry | Immortality, Legend, Serenity | Elemental, Demon God or Diamond Body | Use Diamond Body if the carry flinches a lot |
| 50% HP Carry | Immortality, Serenity, God of Destruction | Elemental, Legend or Diamond Body | Slightly stronger, but harder to pilot |
The 50% HP carry trades half its health pool via God of Destruction for a big attack boost, so Immortality’s regen and lifesteal are what keep it standing. It hits harder than the standard carry but punishes mistakes, so treat it as a build to graduate into.

Mount and traversal builds
Mount passives prioritize speed and stamina over stats. Stamina drain was lowered in 1.0, so you have more room to load pure speed on a ground mount. For a combat mount, the choice comes down to flinch immunity from Diamond Body versus the extra speed from Legend.
| Build | Core passives | Flex | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mount | Dimensional Leap, Swift, Legend | Runner, Eternal Engine | Stamina drain has been lowered |
| Swimming Mount | Dimensional Leap, King of the Waves, Ace Swimmer | Swift, Sleek Stroke | Sleek Stroke has an Implant |
| Combat Mount | Dimensional Leap, Swift, Idiosyncratic | Diamond Body, Legend | Flinch immune vs. more speed |
Booster build for weapon uptime
A booster Pal exists to prop up your own firepower rather than deal damage itself. The core stays fixed, and the last flex slot depends on your weapon. If your weapon reloads normally, take Reload Master. If it does not reload, such as a bow, take Healing Coach instead.
| Build | Core passives | Flex | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booster | Vanguard, Stronghold, Idiosyncratic | Reload Master, Healing Coach | Use Healing Coach if the weapon doesn’t reload (Bow) |

Base locations to build around
Where you plant a base decides how much raiding you deal with and which materials you farm for free before mines and quarries are unlocked. The first base placement barely matters, but the later spots below are chosen for resource nodes and, in two cases, for being effectively untouchable by raids.
| Purpose | Coordinates | Landmark |
|---|---|---|
| Starter spot | 247, -500 | Near Hill of Beginnings |
| Ore (raidable) | 8, -526 | Near Windswept Island Watchtower |
| Ore & Coal (unraidable) | 188, -37 | Mountain near Sealed Realm of the Mystic |
| Quartz (raid-safe) | -210, 250 | Raised area near Garden Beneath |
| Oil (3 nodes) | -855, -456 | Below Mount Obsidian Trail |
| Oil + Kinship Peach | 917, 193 | Oasis Isle by the desert |
| Hexolite Quartz (3 nodes) | -1064, -1428 | Above Frozen Coral Hill Watchtower |
The mountain spot near the Sealed Realm of the Mystic is the go-to endgame base because raids cannot reach it. Setting it up is fiddly since you want a lot of pillars for the floors, but if you need ore and coal, skip placing pillars over those nodes. Mining Pals will still work a node even when they cannot physically reach it.
Tip: You can place two oil processors on a single oil node, so a three-node oil base can run six processors at once. At the Oasis Isle location, keep a high-level transport Pal on hand to grab the Kinship Peach spawn and drop it into a chest.
Keep the passive tables as your working reference, and you will rarely have to guess. Lock Legend, Immortality, and Serenity onto most fighters, flex offense or defense based on whether your Pals are surviving, and reserve the high-risk attack passives for carries you can actively protect.
