Wistella is one of the Dark Pals added in Palworld’s 1.0 release, and it is not a fighter you throw at the front line. Its numbers are low, but its Partner Skill and its base work levels make it worth a party slot. The trick is to treat it as a support buffer and a workshop hand rather than a damage dealer.
Quick answer: Keep Wistella in your active party for the Hidden Dark Energy defense buff on your Dark Pals, run Dark Whisp, Dragon Meteor, and Star Mine for coverage, and never send it in for melee against Dragon Pals.
Why Wistella earns a party slot
The main reason to carry Wistella is its Partner Skill, Hidden Dark Energy. While Wistella is in your party, every Dark Pal you own gains defense. That buff starts at 15% and scales up to 30% as the skill levels, and it does not stack with a second Wistella.
The second reason is coverage. On top of Dark moves, Wistella can learn Dragon and Neutral attacks, so it can hit targets that shrug off pure Dark damage. That flexibility is what keeps it useful even though its own stats are modest.
Note: Wistella is a Dark-type, so it takes double damage from Dragon attacks. Any competent Dragon Pal will drop it quickly in a straight fight, which is exactly why you keep it buffing from your party rather than tanking hits.

Add to Google Preferences →Combat build: active skills and passives

For combat, load Wistella with its three highest-value attacks. Dark Whisp is a homing Dark projectile, Dragon Meteor covers its strongest single-target Dragon hit, and Star Mine adds Neutral damage for enemies that resist the other two.
| Skill | Element | Power | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dark Whisp | Dark | 600 | 30s |
| Dragon Meteor | Dragon | 600 | 30s |
| Star Mine | Neutral | 400 | 20s |
For passives, prioritize raw attack and uptime since Wistella will mostly fire from your party pocket. The following four work well together.
- Legend
- Demon God
- Serenity
- Musclehead
Base build: work suitability and passives
Wistella pulls double duty at your base. Its work levels lean toward crafting and medicine, so it slots neatly into a workbench or a Medieval Medicine Workbench rotation. Transporting is only Level 1, so pair it with dedicated haulers.
| Work Suitability | Level |
|---|---|
| Handiwork | 6 |
| Medicine Production | 6 |
| Transporting | 1 |
For a base worker, swap the combat passives for ones that push work speed and crafting output. Dark Pals are already Nocturnal by nature, so you do not need to add that passive.
- Remarkable Craftsmanship
- Artisan
- Work Slave
- Serious
Tip: The same attack loadout is fine to leave on a base Wistella. You do not have to re-teach skills every time you move it between party and base duty.
Wistella stats at a base level
Wistella is a small, common Dark Pal with entry number 181. Its base numbers confirm why it belongs in a support role rather than a frontline one.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| HP | 80 |
| Melee Attack | 100 |
| Shot Attack | 90 |
| Defense | 60 |
| Work Speed | 100 |
| Run Speed | 450 |
| Ride Sprint Speed | 600 |
Wistella cannot be ridden, so there is no mount role to consider. Its ceiling comes from IVs, souls, and condensing, but even at maximum investment its value is the defense buff and its base work, not personal damage.
Where to get Wistella
Wistella spawns in the World Tree region during both day and night, and it is fairly common around the Gilded City Ruins. If you want a higher-level catch, there is a Level 66 Field Boss version east of the Farcry Marsh fast travel point in Sunreach.
You can also hatch Wistella from a Dark Egg or produce one through breeding. When you defeat or capture it, Wistella reliably drops Nightstar Sand and Small Pal Soul, with a chance at World Tree Holy Water, Electric Radiant Gem, and various Ancient Relics.
Build it as a buffer first and a crafter second, and Wistella becomes a quiet force multiplier for any Dark-focused team while still earning its keep back at base.
