Kindling speed comes down to one stat: Work Speed. That stat governs every job a Pal does at your base, so the fastest way to burn through cooking, ore refining, and any other kindling-driven task is to stack Work Speed passives on a Pal that already has high Kindling work suitability. In Palworld 1.0, the numbers on these traits went up, and a few new ones are strong enough to change how you build a dedicated worker.
Quick answer: Put Remarkable Craftsmanship (+75%), Artisan (+50%), Work Slave (+30%), and Serious (+20%) on a high-Kindling Pal. Those four stack additively for +175% Work Speed, which applies fully to kindling tasks.

Best Work Speed passives for Kindling
Work Speed passives add together, so the goal is to fill all four passive slots with the highest positive values you can inherit. These are the traits worth chasing, ranked by how much Work Speed they give.
| Passive | Work Speed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Demon’s Hand | +90% | World Tree only; SAN drains 15% faster |
| Remarkable Craftsmanship | +75% | Highest with no downside |
| Artisan | +50% | Common, easy to breed |
| Work Slave | +30% | Attack -30% (irrelevant on a base worker) |
| Lucky | +20% | Also Attack +15%, Defense +15% |
| Serious | +20% | No downside |
| Conceited | +10% | Defense -20% |
Demon’s Hand is the single biggest boost in the game at +90%, but it comes only from the World Tree region, and it makes sanity drop 15% faster. On a Kindling worker, that constant stress is a real problem, so most players keep Demon’s Hand for gathering Pals and build base workers around the drawback-free traits below it.

Add to Google Preferences →The ideal four-passive loadout
A Pal has four passive slots. For a pure Kindling worker that never fights, fill every slot with a Work Speed trait and ignore combat stats entirely. This is the cleanest maximum:
- Remarkable Craftsmanship (+75%)
- Artisan (+50%)
- Work Slave (+30%)
- Serious (+20%)
That combination reaches +175% Work Speed. Work Slave lowers Attack by 30%, but a base worker never uses its attack, so the penalty costs you nothing. If you want the Pal to double as an occasional fighter, swap Work Slave for Lucky, which still adds +20% Work Speed while also raising Attack and Defense by 15% each. That trade drops you to +165% but keeps the Pal viable in a fight.
Note: Motivational Leader raises your own Work Speed by 25% only while the Pal is in your active party, not while it sits at the base. Keep it separate from your base worker planning.

Passives that keep production running
Raw Work Speed only matters if the Pal keeps working. Sanity (SAN) drains as a Pal labors, and once it drops low the Pal slows down, stops, or gets sick. Hunger works the same way. If you would rather protect uptime than push the ceiling higher, spend a slot or two on the support traits below instead of a fourth or fifth Work Speed passive.
| Passive | Effect | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Workaholic | Sanity drain -15% | Longest work sessions before rest |
| Positive Thinker | Sanity drain -10% | Fewer sanity breakdowns |
| Diet Lover | Hunger decreases 15% slower | Fewer trips to eat |
| Dainty Eater | Satiety drain -10% | More time on task |
A balanced worker often runs two Work Speed traits plus Workaholic and Diet Lover. It produces a little slower per second than a pure +175% build, but it rarely stops, which usually wins over a long play session.

Passives to avoid
Negative Work Speed traits cut into everything a Kindling worker does, and they inherit through breeding just like the good ones. Recycle or release any base Pal that rolls these before you invest condensing materials into it.
| Passive | Effect |
|---|---|
| Musclehead | Work Speed -50%, Attack +30% |
| Slacker | Work Speed -30% |
| Hooligan | Work Speed -10%, Attack +15% |
| Clumsy | Work Speed -10% |
| Destructive | Sanity drain +15% |
| Unstable | Sanity drain +10% |
How to get these passives onto a Kindling Pal

You will know it worked when you open the finished Pal’s status screen and see all four passives listed, then assign it to the base and watch kindling tasks complete noticeably faster than a default worker. If your build feels slow, the usual causes are a hidden negative Work Speed trait you missed, low Kindling suitability on the species, or the Pal repeatedly leaving to eat or recover sanity because you skipped the support passives.
