Unlock requirements, two clearing teams, a Frostallion player-damage build, and the attacks to dodge for the Legendary schematic.

Axel and Orserk’s Level 80 Hard Mode encounter is an endgame rematch in the Tower of the Brothers of the Eternal Pyre on Mount Obsidian. The boss has 514,800 HP, and two additional enemies appear as soon as you enter the arena. A demanding DPS check stands between you and the Legendary Heat-Resistant Ancient Armor Schematic. Orserk remains Dragon- and Electric-type, making Ground and Ice attacks the quickest options.

Quick answer: Take a fully upgraded Ground or Ice Pal, have a Drone Launcher keep firing to build Orserk’s buff, eliminate both Lux Pals before the others, and steer clear of the center pillars when Axel activates the electric fence.

How to unlock Hard Mode and reach the tower

The Hard Mode rematch only opens after you defeat Auri and Shaolong, the Sunreach faction boss. Until that clear, the tower stays on its Normal Mode version. The fight itself happens at the same spot as before, atop Mount Obsidian, and you still need heat protection just to reach the door.

Boss stats, weakness, and rewards

Ground and Ice attacks both deal increased damage to Orserk. However, Hard Mode adds Grass moves, so recall a Ground attacker when those attacks are about to land. Your first victory awards the Axel Hat, and also gives a 10 percent chance to obtain the Legendary schematic alongside the other materials.

Best active Pals to bring

You can approach the fight in either of two ways: build around Knocklem for Pal damage, or use Anubis or Icelyn to add your weapon’s element for player damage. For one Pal that exploits both weaknesses, Moldron Cryst is the top choice.

PalRatingWhy it works
Knocklem★★★★★Its Partner Skill delivers a major boost to Attack and Defense, while Ground Cutter deals heavy damage with reliable accuracy.
Anubis★★★★☆Its skill changes your weapon’s element to Ground and adds 50% Attack. Choose it for a build centered on player damage.
Moldron Cryst★★★★☆Attack scales with the number of Ice and Ground allies in your party. Solid Knocklem stand-in.
Icelyn★★★☆☆Its Partner Skill gives your weapon Ice damage and boosts Attack. This is the gun-build Ice option in place of Anubis.

Team setups that clear the fight

Quick Swap Knocklem team

Run two Knocklem as your active Pals, both with Serenity, Earth Emperor, Immortality, and Diamond Body. Trigger one Knocklem’s Partner Skill to attack, then switch to the second whenever the first goes on cooldown. As long as you manage your own HP and your Knocklem stats are maxed, you keep steady pressure without gaps. Use the Megaboost Gun to power up your Pal when you are farming for the schematic.

Support Turtacle Terra to turn type weaknesses into Weak Point damage, increasing the damage Orserk receives from Ground attacks. Add Orserk’s Attack and Defense buff and Silvegis’s shield and shield-regeneration boost. Together, these give Knocklem the durability and damage needed to wear the boss down.

Anubis Plasma Rifle team

This build shifts damage onto the player. Run Anubis with Sanctified Meat Shield, Serenity, Idiosyncratic, and Vanguard, then support with Turtacle Terra, Pierdon, Cryolinx Terra, and Solenne. It needs real investment in your Player Attack stat through accessories and stat allocation.

Call out Anubis to switch your weapon to Ground and boost your Attack, then land Plasma Rifle headshots on Axel or Orserk for Weak Point hits. After Anubis inflicts Muddy, Pierdon increases damage; Cryolinx Terra boosts Weak Point damage, and Solenne grants an 80% Attack buff. Together, these support skills let you take down the boss quickly.

Across both teams, keep the shared support passives on your party Pals: Vanguard, Stronghold Strategist (+10% Player Defense), Reload Master (+10% Player Reload Speed), and Idiosyncratic.

Frostallion player-damage walkthrough

For a fast, repeatable clear, a Frostallion mount build converts your attacks to Ice, layers on stacking damage buffs, and freezes the boss for easy headshots. Here is the full run, from setup to elimination.

Build a Level 80 Frostallion with the Partner Skill Icy Steed Lv. 5, which changes your attack type to Ice, increases Attack by 40%, and applies Freeze buildup while mounted. Its passives should be Sanctified Meat Shield, Diamond Body, and Idiosyncratic for defense, flinch and knockback immunity, and automatic health regeneration.

Fill the rest of your party with stacking buffs. Selyne grants +40% player Attack when all party members are different species, Maeldron Cryst adds +40% Ice damage against the boss’s elemental weakness, Xenogard adds +40% energy weapon damage, and Cryolinx Terra boosts your next weak point attack by 100%.

Load your weapons and accessories. Carry the Beam Launcher for opening burst, the Plasma Rifle for sustained headshots, and the Drone Launcher for passive DPS. Equip the Warsect Terra’s Belt, Attack Pendant +3, Silvegis Emblem, and Dogen Emblem to raise your Attack and defense.

Weapons, armor, and accessories

Keep your Drone Launcher active so it sustains Orserk’s Partner Skill buff; use the Plasma Rifle in hand to hit weak points and apply Pal debuffs. These are endgame foes, so wear your best defensive armor—at the very least, the complete Ancient Armor set.

Choose accessories that match the boss’s elemental weakness. Most players use the Dogen Emblem, which boosts Attack for both you and your active Pal. Ice-based builds can also use the options listed here.

Dogen EmblemProvides a large Attack increase for you and your active Pal.
Ice Emperor’s BatonBoosts your active Pal’s Attack while substantially raising its Ice damage.
Frostallion’s TalismanIncreases your active Pal’s Defense and raises the damage it deals with Ice.
Cryolinx RingLowers Dragon damage you take and boosts your active Pal’s Ice damage.

Food and consumables

Because the tower runs on a time limit, favor food that boosts damage over defense. Broncherry Fried Noodles and Mammorest Curry are strong picks, and you should carry High Quality Recovery Meds, Advanced Recovery Meds, and a Revival Potion in case a Pal drops.

Fight strategy and attacks to dodge

Deal with the extra enemies before the main fight. A Mossanda Lux and a Relaxaurus Lux appear when the battle begins and will harass you, particularly when they target the player. Defeat both before engaging Axel and Orserk so you don’t have to manage three opponents at once.
Be ready for Grass moves. Orserk uses these as well as Electric and Dragon attacks. When a Grass skill is incoming, recall your main Ground Pal to keep it from taking heavy damage.
Keep clear of the central pillars. Axel periodically electrifies them, creating a fence that can shove you around; touching it also stuns and electrocutes your player or Pal. Dodge around the arena’s edges and don’t stay in the fenced area.
Make Weak Point hits your priority. With a player-damage build, target Axel’s or Orserk’s head to land these hits, displayed as larger orange numbers. Cryolinx Terra’s Partner Skill increases their damage and helps end the fight sooner.
Keep the drones within range to build Orserk’s buff. Summon them before you enter, then stay close enough for the Drone Launcher to keep firing. Every bullet adds a stack to Orserk’s Attack and Defense buff, to a maximum of 30 times; moving out of range stops the drones and removes the buff completely.

In Hard Mode, Orserk uses Electric, Dragon, and Grass attacks. Polykeraunos sends out thunder spears in a wave; the first spear explodes after a delay. All Range Thunder fires lightning in straight paths across the arena. Beam Slicer and Charge Cannon deal heavy Dragon damage and can inflict burn, so dodge these attacks as a priority.

Confirming the clear and farming the schematic

After Axel and Orserk fall, look for the BOSS ELIMINATED prompt to confirm the win. Your first-clear rewards include the Axel Hat, Stamina Lotus (L), and Training Crystal, plus a chance to get the Legendary Heat-Resistant Ancient Armor Schematic. A missed schematic can be farmed because the encounter is repeatable; keep your drones active and your buff-stacking rotation precise for another run. Once your build can clear the fight, it can farm it at the same pace.
