Humans in Palworld can be caught the same way as Pals, by lowering their HP and throwing a Pal Sphere. The catch is that attacking or capturing peaceful NPCs starts a Wanted meter, which brings high-level law enforcement down on you. The way around it is to only capture humans who are already hostile and don’t trigger that penalty.
Quick answer: Capture Syndicate Thugs instead of villagers or merchants. Fighting and catching them carries no Wanted risk, they are low-level, and they spawn commonly near the Rayne Syndicate Tower entrance.

What triggers the Wanted status
The game treats capturing humans as taboo in most situations. Attacking a peaceful NPC or trying to stuff one into a sphere starts a Wanted meter that keeps rising until you either escape, are defeated, or die. Once it triggers, armed guards appear near you and pursue you.
Syndicate Thugs are the exception that matters here. They are already an enemy faction, so engaging them in battle and catching them does not flag you as Wanted. That single fact is what makes them the safe target for anyone who wants a captured human without the consequences.
| Human type | Wanted risk when caught |
|---|---|
| Syndicate Thugs | None |
| Villagers and other peaceful NPCs | Triggers Wanted meter |
| Wandering Merchant / Pal Merchant | Triggers Wanted meter (also Level 30) |

Syndicate Thugs are common across the map, but two spots near the Rayne Syndicate Tower make them easy to farm. The Hillside Cave sits right next to the Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance fast travel point. You can also follow the path directly north from the tower to find more of them.
Because these thugs are generally low-level, their catch rate is far more forgiving than a merchant or a leveled villager. That keeps the whole process quick and cheap on spheres.
How to catch a human safely

You’ll know it worked when the human is added to your party or sent to your Palbox, exactly like catching a Pal. From there they can be deployed to your party, put to work at your base, or left in the Palbox.

Ways to raise your capture chance
- Get the target’s HP as low as possible before throwing.
- Apply Burning, Poison, or another negative status effect first.
- Throw from behind when the target isn’t aggroed for the backstrike bonus.
- Use a higher-grade sphere, since better spheres carry a stronger capture bonus.
- Keep the level gap small; the bigger the gap between you and the target, the lower the capture chance.
Note: recall your summoned Pals while the target still has a sliver of health left. If a Pal lands the finishing blow, the human is knocked out instead of captured.
If a Wanted status does trigger
Should you slip up and attack the wrong NPC, guards will spawn and chase you. The simplest fix is to run far from where it happened and wait for the meter to clear. Retreating to your base is risky, because your base Pals will engage the guards and most likely be wiped out.
Your realistic options once flagged are to escape, defeat the guards, or die to reset the state. Avoiding the trigger in the first place by sticking to Syndicate Thugs is far less painful.

Is catching a human worth it?
For most players, captured humans are underwhelming. In combat they flail at enemies and rarely connect, and at a base they only handle Handiwork at level 1, which even a basic Pal like Lamball does without any fuss. They have no Partner Skill and can’t breed, and they never appear in the Paldeck, so completionists lose nothing by skipping them entirely.
The one genuine payoff is merchants. Capturing a Wandering Merchant or Pal Merchant from the Small Settlement lets you deploy them at your base so you can trade any time. Those merchants sit at Level 30 and are harder to catch than most Level 30 Pals, and grabbing them does carry Wanted risk, so save that attempt for a well-equipped late game rather than an early run.
