A neo-noir mystery set in a surreal Istanbul, built around branching choices, and heading to PC via Steam in episodes.

Pera Coda is a story-focused neo-noir adventure set in a shadowy version of Istanbul. You step into the shoes of Deniz, a disgraced criminal defense lawyer drawn into a homicide investigation that grows far beyond one killing. Exploration, suspect interviews, and decisions drive the experience, with choices altering the narrative and Deniz himself.

Quick answer: Pera Coda is an episodic detective adventure from Elyzio’s Falan studio, published by PUBLSH, planned to release on PC via Steam in 2027, starting with its first episode.

What Pera Coda is

The game is an isometric, story-rich mystery that unfolds across a reimagined version of Istanbul. The city is treated as a character rather than a backdrop, with recognizable districts distorted into something both familiar and dreamlike. You move through crowded streets, late-night taverns, quiet apartments, and forgotten alleys as the investigation takes you deeper into the city’s underbelly.

Deniz’s tale opens with a killing that seems uncomplicated. Following the clues brings the investigation closer to the past he has tried to hide, until the key question shifts from identifying the murderer to understanding Deniz himself.

How the investigation works

You search crime scenes, take in your surroundings, gather evidence, and speak with witnesses, suspects, and strangers. Some findings won’t matter immediately: a tune, a scent, a snapshot, an object, or an offhand remark may gain significance much later. The game rewards close attention to these details.

Puzzles are built to have more than one solution, and the choices you make carry consequences. There are multiple paths through the story and multiple endings, so two players can reach very different conclusions.

Deniz’s traits and emotional system

You shape who Deniz is by picking personality traits, and those traits change how you interact with the world. He can be streetwise, charming, or well-educated, and each approach opens different conversations and solutions.

Deniz’s emotional state adds another layer. Empathy, apathy, agitation, and serenity affect his available actions and dialogue; certain choices require anger, while others are accessible only when he is calm. The investigation also shapes the person he becomes.

Optional activities bring the city to life: feed stray animals, listen to music, sample food, notice scents, or chat with people whose remarks serve no practical purpose. Some encounters lead nowhere, while others may matter.

Mature content and violence

The game portrays violence realistically through injuries, corpses, and killings, but usually presents stylized aftermaths or reconstructed memories instead of explicit acts. If you choose, Deniz can shoot someone at close range in rare moments, no more than once per episode.

Deniz’s functioning alcoholism is conveyed through drinking shown on screen, though alcohol has no dedicated gameplay mechanic. Tobacco use appears as cigarettes, cigars, and shisha. The game features crude language and occasional swearing, but no sexual content, nudity, illegal drug use, or gambling.

Who is making Pera Coda

Pera Coda is developed by ELYZIO through its internal Falan studio and published by PUBLSH INC. PUBLSH was founded in 2025 by Ben Granados and Samuel Clarke, and Pera Coda is its first publicly announced title. The company describes its approach as “publisher-level leadership without publisher-level control,” and plans to stay selective, aiming for roughly four to five games a year.

The design has been compared to Disco Elysium for its focus on dialogue, investigation, and character psychology, though Pera Coda builds its own systems and setting. The art direction comes from an architectural background, which shapes how streets, courtyards, and interiors are laid out to guide attention.
