Quick answer: Use L Ctrl at the circular fitting in the Lady’s statue base. Soul hurls the Flying Guillotine into the fitting, revealing a square opening in the hall floor.

What you need

You need the Flying Guillotine. You get it for defeating Huangxing in this same hall. You don’t have to equip it. The Exploration Ability screen says so directly: “The Flying Guillotine can open special mechanisms placed by Huangxing even when not equipped.”

The Pillars of Kunlun quest also points you here, with the step “Use the Flying Guillotine to unlock the mechanism at the base of the Lady’s statue”.

How to open the mechanism

At the far end of the hall, approach the statue. The socket is the circular metal plate on the base’s front face, directly beneath the statue.
Stand in front of the disc until a Ctrl prompt appears, then press L Ctrl.

Turn back toward the doors to check that it worked. An open square pit now sits in the hall floor in front of the statue. The quest banner changes to WHENCE THE WEEPING, with the objective “Enter the depths beneath the Shrine”.

Where the open floor leads

Walk off the edge of the pit. No prompt appears, and the fall does no damage.
Let the cutscene play once the screen goes black. It shows red threads, a seated woman, and kneeling figures.

You awaken in Inanis’s refuge, the Realm of Mirage. Lanterns border a blue lake, and a bed sits beneath a tree. Inanis tells you: “No one can find this place. Time does not pass here.”

Take Inanis’ Radiant Fan, which she gives you during the scene. Afterward, press E on her if you want to talk about her daughter.

A new story quest also appears here. THE WAY FORWARD asks you to “Enter the Mirage Estate”. That isn’t the lake you’re standing in. The Mirage Estate is a separate location.

How to get out of the Realm of Mirage

Head away from Inanis’s bed across the ankle-deep water. Aim for the portal of light on an islet of blue flowers, about 39 m out. The far edge of the lake blocks you, so keep the portal in sight.

Use E at the portal to arrive in a dim chamber beneath the hall.
In the Puppet Cell, ring the bell. The menu includes Traverse, plus Upgrade Equipment, Store, along with Train Abilities, Save, and Leave. Choose Traverse to return to the remaining map.

Inside the Puppet Cell, you’ll also find a portal leading back to the lake, a gate marked with an orange seal, and the burning ring that counts as the third door of The Herald’s Illusion.

Three glinting pickups sit on the Puppet Cell floor: Remnant Dust worth 22,376, Forged Otherworldly Copper, and Forbidden Camphor Timber.

On the Puppet Cell floor, beneath the hall at The Lady’s Shrine, you can find Forged Otherworldly Copper. Its card identifies it as the material for taking Martial-type Phantom Edges from Lv. 20 to max level.

Forbidden Camphor Timber is on the same Puppet Cell floor beneath the hall at The Lady’s Shrine. Its card lists it as the material that takes Ranged-type Phantom Edges from Lv. 20 to max level.
