Quick answer: In Pangzhen, Xie Qiudong confronts Soul in a shed-filled yard perched over the Well of Wei Sanchuan. He attacks with lengthy dark-root lashes as Baishan fighters join the assault.
Xie Qiudong at a glance
The bar above him identifies him as “Xie Qiudong, the Divine Healer”. He carries a large wooden box strapped to his back and holds clusters of twisted, dark roots.
Red threads cross a compound of wooden sheds, ladders, barrels and stone steps; it stands high above Pangzhen’s Well of Wei Sanchuan.

Nearest bell: Well of Wei Sanchuan (Phantom Blade Zero bells).
He sweeps roots across the ground from a distance and swings the bundles in his hands at close quarters, as his fighters attack Soul from all directions.

High on a ledge over the Well of Wei Sanchuan in Pangzhen, Xie Qiudong is stationed among wooden sheds.
Below the ledge, a rocky hollow holds the Well of Wei Sanchuan bell.

At the yard’s boundary, a low ladder displays a white “Space” prompt.
In our run, Baishan fighters were already in the yard when his health bar appeared: a Baishan Twinblade Guardian, a Shadow Warden, Baishan Disciples, a Baishan Scout and E’mei fighters.
In our run, after a death Soul came back at the Well of Wei Sanchuan bell.
Xie Qiudong’s attacks
Root lash
From several steps off, he lashes Soul with long, dark roots skimming the ground, red threads streaming behind them.

Root swings
When Soul is nearby, Xie swings the dark-root clusters he holds in each hand.

Baishan fighters
The attackers include twin-blade swordsmen and E’mei fighters wearing purple robes, and they strike alongside Xie. In our run, they joined the fight from the first seconds.

How the fight went in our run
In our run on Wayfarer, the attempt lasted about a minute and barely marked his bar.
In our run on Pathbreaker, the attempt also ended in about a minute.
In our run, his fighters did most of the damage to Soul in both attempts.
Tips for the Xie Qiudong fight
Rest at the Well of Wei Sanchuan bell first. In our run, a death returned Soul there.
Stay on the move to stop his fighters closing in around Soul, and look out for the ground-level root lash.
In our run, a red barrel in the yard burst into flames next to Soul and set him on fire, so stay clear of the barrels while fighting.
For timing against his swings, use the parry and dodge guide.
If the battle proves too difficult, use the System menu to adjust the difficulty. Confirm the “Apply changes to settings?” prompt to put the change into effect. The difficulty modes breakdown covers the options.
Leaving the yard and rewards
In our run, stepping into the well at the edge of the yard dropped Soul back down to the Well floor without any damage.
In our run, no reward card appeared after the fight.
Other boss fights and their rewards are in the list of all Phantom Blade Zero bosses, and the Grief-Stricken Jin boss fight is another encounter with a band of fighters at his side.
