Badges in Phasmophobia are cosmetic markers on your ID Card that show off progress, rare achievements, and event participation. They fall into two groups: Prestige badges tied to your level, and Special badges tied to challenges, easter eggs, seasonal events, and Twitch drops. Each one is unlocked by meeting a specific condition, then equipped from the customization menu in the lobby.
Quick answer: Reach Level 100 and prestige to earn Prestige badges. Everything else is a Special badge unlocked by completing a challenge, solving a map easter egg, finishing a seasonal event goal, or watching a participating Twitch drop stream. Equip any badge from the ID Card customize button on the lobby’s center bulletin board.
Where badges live and how to equip them
Your ID Card displays your name, platform, level, badge, and character model. Badges are managed from the same place you pick your contract and loadout, so you never leave the lobby to change them.

Note: You can also change your character model from this menu by clicking the model portrait. Unlocked trophies show up physically in the lobby’s display cases, separate from ID Card badges.

Add to Google Preferences →Prestige badges: reach Level 100, then prestige
Prestige badges are the most reliable badges to earn because they depend only on time and effort. You earn one each time you reach Level 100 and prestige, which resets your level, EXP, and equipment upgrades in exchange for a new rank badge. The fastest way to level is correctly identifying ghosts, surviving hunts, and completing the three optional objectives on each contract.
Prestige 1 through 10 give static badge designs. Prestige 11 through 20 unlock animated versions of those same first ten badges, so the Commissioner rank and the higher tiers carry the most striking looks in the game.
| Prestige level | Role |
|---|---|
| Default (no prestige) | Intern |
| 1 / 11 | Recruit |
| 2 / 12 | Investigator |
| 3 / 13 | Pvt. Investigator |
| 4 / 14 | Detective |
| 5 / 15 | Technician |
| 6 / 16 | Specialist |
| 7 / 17 | Analyst |
| 8 / 18 | Agent |
| 9 / 19 | Operator |
| 10 / 20 | Commissioner |
The second number in each row is the animated variant. Reaching Prestige 11, for example, gives the animated Recruit badge, while Prestige 20 gives the animated Commissioner badge.
Challenge and map badges you can earn anytime
These Special badges are permanent. They stay available regardless of the calendar, so you can chase them whenever you want. Most come from Event Board challenges, map-specific milestones, or trophies.
| Badge | How to unlock |
|---|---|
| Moneybags | Complete the Break the Bank trophy by spending $100,000 cumulatively |
| Lighthouse Keeper | Correctly identify the ghost 50 times at Point Hope |
| Ranger | Correctly identify the ghost 50 times at Maple Lodge Campsite or Camp Woodwind |
| Farmhand | Identify the ghost correctly 50 times on either Farmhouse map while surviving |
| Inmate | Correctly identify the ghost 50 times at Sunny Meadows or Sunny Meadows Restricted |
| Nomad | Identify the ghost correctly 50 times on Nell’s Diner while surviving |
| Suburbanite | Complete the Entangled Terror challenge on the Event Board |
| Sun Seeker | Complete the Artist’s Retreat challenge on the Event Board |
| Apocalypse Adept | Complete the Bronze Apocalypse Challenge |
| Apocalypse Master | Complete the Silver Apocalypse Challenge |
| Apocalypse Legend | Complete the Gold Apocalypse Challenge |
| Completionist | Obtain every achievement and trophy |
For Moneybags, the money that counts is the same currency you spend on equipment and upgrades. Earn more per contract by playing higher difficulties, completing all three optional objectives, gathering photos and other media evidence, correctly guessing the ghost, and surviving to return with the full Perfect Investigation Bonus. Once you spend $100,000 in total, the Break the Bank trophy unlocks and the Moneybags badge appears in your Special badges automatically.
Easter egg badges: the Point Hope Ferryman quest
Some badges are hidden behind puzzle sequences on specific maps. The Ferryman of the Drowned badge comes from a cryptic quest on Point Hope, which unlocks at Level 17. You can do it on any difficulty, including Amateur, and you do not need to complete the ghost hunt itself. Bring a Flashlight and a UV light, and Nightvision Goggles if you have them.
Seasonal event badges
Holiday and community events hand out at least one unique badge each. These are limited-time only and cannot be earned once the event ends. Most events split their rewards into a Community Goal badge and a Personal Goal badge, with the Personal Goal often granting an animated version.
| Badge | Event |
|---|---|
| Holiday Haunter | Holiday 2022 event |
| Egg Hunter | Easter 2023 event |
| Witch of the Lodge | Halloween 2023 event |
| Snowman Slayer | Holiday 2023 event |
| Forest Spirit | Easter 2024 event |
| Summoner / Summoner (Animated) | Halloween 2024 event, Stage 1 / Stage 2 |
| Winter’s Patron / (Animated) | Holiday 2024 event, Stage 1 / Stage 2 |
| Hero of the Hollow / (Animated) | Easter 2025 Community Goal / Personal Goal |
| Child of the Cult / (Animated) | Halloween 2025 Community Goal / Personal Goal |
| Toy Soldier / (Animated) | Holiday 2025 Community Goal / Personal Goal |
Kinetic Games continues to run new seasonal events, so more event badges keep arriving. If an event is live, finish its goals before it closes, because there is no way to backfill an expired event badge.
Twitch drop badges
Twitch drops became a regular source of monthly ID Cards and badges in the second half of 2025. They usually coincide with major patches or developer showcases and typically arrive as a set with both a static and an animated “foil” version. Like event badges, they come and go quickly.

Past Twitch drop badges have included Stream Sentinel (July 2025), Reaper (August 2025), Veteran and its animated version (September 2025), Subscriber (October 2025), and Sweet Tooth (November 2025). Most of these have expired, so watch for each month’s new drop while it is active.
Developer and community role badges
A small set of badges cannot be earned through gameplay at all. These are assigned manually by the developers to specific members of the community, and they display in the Special badge slot like any other.
| Badge | Who receives it |
|---|---|
| Director | Kinetic Games members |
| Officer | Phasmophobia Discord staff members |
| Reporter | Official Kinetic Games Partners |
| Medium | Translators |
| Artist | Art contest winners |
| VIP | Content creator giveaway winners |
| AHA Advocate | Kinetic Games Partners who joined the American Heart Association fundraising stream in June 2025 |
Between Prestige ranks you grind out over time, challenge and map badges that never expire, and the steady rotation of seasonal events and Twitch drops, the ID Card collection keeps growing with every update. Prioritize the time-limited event and drop badges while they are live, since those are the only ones you cannot go back and earn later, and fill in the permanent challenge badges at your own pace.
