Pixel Lineage: Every Heirloom and Heartblood Location for Race Evolution

The three evolution stages, the exact Act, difficulty and boss for all 14 races' materials, and how to confirm each upgrade.

The three evolution stages, the exact Act, difficulty and boss for all 14 races’ materials, and how to confirm each upgrade.

All Heartblood Locations

Every race in Pixel Lineage can evolve, and that includes the 37.7 percent of players who rolled Human. The Race EVO system adds three stages on top of your starting bloodline. Each stage strengthens the racial ability you already have rather than swapping it for a new one. Two race-locked materials drive the whole process. Heirlooms unlock the first stage, and Heartbloods unlock the second and third. Both are rare drops tied to specific Acts, so plan on clearing the same Act several times.

Quick answer: To reach Kindled, obtain your race’s Heirloom in the Act and difficulty shown for it. Next, get that race’s Heartblood from its listed boss to become Exalted. Additional Heartbloods unlock the race’s exclusive Stage 3.

Pixel Lineage race evolution stages and materials

The order is fixed for every race. Applying the correct item moves you up exactly one stage.

StageNameRequired fromMaterial
Stage 1KindledBase raceMatching Heirloom
Stage 2ExaltedKindled raceMatching Heartblood
Stage 3Unique per raceExalted raceMore Heartbloods plus final race requirements

Your first job is the Heirloom. A Heartblood does nothing for a race still at its base stage, so farming one before you reach Kindled wastes runs.

A few hard rules decide whether a drop is useful to you:

  • Race-specific items only work for their matching race: a Dwarf Heartblood has no effect on a Stonekin, just as a Human Heirloom cannot kindle a Goblin.
  • An Heirloom’s drop is set by both its Act and difficulty. Even in the correct Act, choosing a different difficulty prevents it from dropping.
  • Heartbloods are tied to an Act’s boss, not to a difficulty.
  • Race evolution is separate from class advancement. Super and Ultra classes have their own route and never use Heirlooms or Heartbloods.

Heirloom and Heartblood locations for every race

The table covers all 13 rollable races plus Dullahan, the event race. Heirloom cells show the Act and the required difficulty, and include the boss where one is tied to the drop. Heartblood cells show the Act and the boss that drops the item.

The Acts map to these zones. Act 1 is Sunmeadow Wilds, Act 2 the Dungeon, Act 3 the Cursed Forest, Act 4 Moonstone Rise, Act 5 the Underworld, Act 6 the Withered Meadow, Act 7 the Drowned Cathedral, Act 8 the Glass Wastes, Act 9 the Hollow Sky, and Act 10 the Heart of Blight.

Heirloom difficulty pattern

Only on Normal can the Human Heirloom drop. Most early- and mid-tier races require Hard, while rarer bloodlines are found on Nightmare. Races tied to later Acts become progressively rarer, with Seraph appearing in Act 10. The Stormcaller in the Hollow Sky can drop the Celestine and Nightborne Heirlooms alike, making that single Nightmare boss an option for either Mythic race.

Shared Heartblood bosses

Four bosses each drop Heartbloods for two different races. That means you may be farming next to players who are working on another bloodline:

  • Slime King (Sunmeadow Wilds) drops Dwarf and Celestine Heartbloods.
  • Mother Blight (Cursed Forest) drops Human and Sylvan Heartbloods.
  • Mallgrath, the Lord Below (Underworld) drops Ashborn and Goblin Heartbloods.
  • The Tolling Bell (Drowned Cathedral) drops Vesper and Tideborn Heartbloods.

To distinguish the Act 2 Heartblood from the Act 3 one, check which boss drops it. Mother Blight in the Cursed Forest provides the Human and Sylvan Heartbloods; the Nightborne one comes from defeating the Crypt Lord in the Dungeon.

Dullahan: The Halloween race that you buy

Dullahan isn’t in the Race Spin pool. It is a Halloween event race sold at the Candy Witch shop in your castle town for 10,000 Candy. Once you own it, it evolves the same way as every other race. Its Heirloom drops from Act 7 on Nightmare, and its Heartblood drops from Act 9.

How to farm and apply your race evolution items

In the Character menu, find out which race you currently have. Farm items for that race alone; Heirlooms and Heartbloods belonging to other races have no effect on you.
Use the table above to find your race’s Heirloom Act and difficulty, then note the Heartblood Act and boss. With both destinations identified, you can change Acts as soon as the first evolution is complete.
Clear the Heirloom Act on the listed difficulty until the item drops. Use it to evolve your race to Kindled.
Travel to your Heartblood Act. If you’ve unlocked the Ancient Portal in your castle town, use it to jump straight to Acts you’ve already reached instead of replaying the whole route.
As soon as you get the Heartblood, stop advancing and return home. On the node map, select Return Home to reach town without spending a Life; this keeps your item secure without risking the rest of the run.
Open the Gear menu and consume the Heartblood. Your race moves to Exalted.

Late Heirlooms require Nightmare clears, and a character lacking sufficient power could spend all three Lives before getting one. Take potions, a strong build, and extra Lives. The party size affects your loot too: solo play gives you every drop, while multiplayer can make tough Acts safer but splits the loot among the group. Pick the arrangement that lets you clear your target Act most reliably.

Buying Heirlooms and Heartbloods at the Auction House

Farming isn’t your only option. Players sell Heirlooms and Heartbloods for gold through the Auction House’s Bloodline category. Prices are often high, so clearing Acts usually costs less. Before placing a bid, consider the following:

  • Listings include the seller’s name, item quantity, remaining time and either the opening bid or current highest bid.
  • A lot may include multiple items; weigh its quantity against the listed price.
  • While you hold the highest bid, your gold stays reserved. If another player outbids you, the money goes back to your Inbox.
  • Match the full item name to your race. Items with similar names won’t substitute for each other.

How to confirm your race evolved

After you apply the Heirloom, your race name gains an “I” marker, as in Vesper I, which shows the Kindled stage. Your racial ability also gets stronger. Human, for example, gains 6 percent to attack, magic, defense and max HP at Kindled. After the Heartblood, the character sheet shows Stage 2, Exalted, and some races unlock a new skill at this point, such as Human’s Rallying Cry. Stage 3 appears as the “III” form under the race’s own name, so a finished Human becomes Paragon and a finished Tideborn becomes Leviathan. Dwarf, Slime, Celestine and Seraph don’t have named Stage 3 forms yet. For every other race, the final requirements and more Heartbloods are all that separate Exalted from the last form.
