Exiting Lab & Route 510 Exploration

Part 13 of Pokémon Otherside starts underground. Voltsy and Mikayl reach the basement of the Ghessa Laboratory, the facility at the center of the game’s backstory. The files they read there change the story’s main mystery. Alset, the synthetic entity the plot has circled for hours, was not something Nezia brought into the world. It was built in that lab by the two protagonists’ own parents.

Quick answer: The basement files show that Dr. Armor, Dr. Sana and Dr. Ruben created Alset in Ghessa as an evolving, conscious AI. Nezia did not create it.

Ghessa Laboratory in the Pokémon Otherside timeline

Pokémon Otherside is a French fan game by iscigo. It adds more than 150 Fakémon, a Tech type born from artificial intelligence, and the Digi-Bracelet battle mechanic. Its history starts with a meteorite called Techna. The meteorite set off a war between the Republics of Alterria and Subaria. After the armistice, the city of Ghessa became the center of Subaria’s technology boom. The first Tech-type Pokémon were created there 30 years before the game begins.

Fifteen years before the story, an unexplained accident hit the Ghessa Laboratory and three researchers disappeared. After that, the player’s mother took them to Alterria, which is why the adventure begins in Windbreak. Part 13 is where the game finally sends you into the lab that accident left behind. The game is free to download for Windows.

The basement secret: who created Alset

The first files are research documents signed by Armor and Ruben. They describe Alset as something the team made by hand, not something they found or captured. The wording treats Alset as a project that kept developing after it was switched on, more like a mind that grows than a machine that runs a fixed program.

Further in, notes written by Dr. Sana add the human side. They describe the accident inside the laboratory, which links the disaster from 15 years ago to Alset’s development. Together, the two sets of files settle the question the earlier chapters left open. Alset came from Ghessa and from the protagonists’ families, not from the villainous Nezia organization.

Izabel’s battle and the Digi-Bracelet Safe Mode

The basement is not empty. A researcher named Izabel has been hiding there, badly shaken by what happened. She first appears under the label “Homeless Unknown” and starts a battle when the pair find her. Her team includes a Metagross.

During this fight, Mirys delivers a chip upgrade for the Digi-Bracelet, which unlocks a new mode called Safe Mode. Digitalization is the Digi-Bracelet’s mid-battle energy burst. It lets you pick a mode that changes how your Pokémon performs for a short time. Safe Mode is the defensive option. These are the mode labels on the bracelet’s menu:

  • SAFE MODE: For 3 turns, bypasses the foe’s stat changes and screens
  • OVERCLOCK
  • OVERDRIVE
  • POWER CORE
  • SYSTEM RESET

Ignoring the opponent’s boosts and screens directly counters trainers who rely on setup moves. The unlock shows up in the Digi-Bracelet’s mode list once Mirys installs the chip, so it is available for the rest of the battle against Izabel and for later fights.

The Cocoon Room file and Izabel’s rescue

Once Izabel is beaten, she calms down enough to talk. The protagonists persuade her to leave the lab instead of staying hidden underground. The last document sits in the Cocoon Room, a blue chamber with three pods. It is a final testimony about Alset and closes the basement’s story thread.

A quest reward is granted when you leave the lab. That reward marks the end of the basement section, and the player returns to the surface in Ghessa.

After the basement: Route 510 to the Frequency Badge

Back outside, Route 510 opens up south of Ghessa. One errand ties back to the city first. Turning in Aurele’s side quest, “The Field Notebook,” earns TM58 Sky Drop.

The route includes a Titan’s Domain cave with a wild Titan Eevee that can be caught, plus several side quests with rewards worth noting:

At Dhalma’s gate, Mikayl is ready to face his rival and measure his growth. Gym Leader Otto Tune is away from his Dhalma gym, taking part in a rap battle in the hidden Flower District. The gym challenge has three rhythm trials, “Session 1 – THE EAR,” “Session 2 – THE TEMPO” and “Session 3 – THE DEMO,” followed by a battle against six Pokémon. Otto’s team consists of Rotom, Porygon-Z, Mega Metagross, Gnawrath, Plasoldier and Algorix. Victory brings the Frequency Badge, the eighth badge, and TM106 Binary Assault. The episode closes with Mirys describing Subaria’s four roaming legendary Rukis, Boruki among them, and adding their tracking to the PokéGear map.
