The Decorative Dive Ball is a rare collectible in Pokémon Pokopia, and it sits inside a walled-off room right next to Misty’s Gym. You won’t stumble onto it by accident, because the passage is blocked until you break through it.

Quick answer: From the Town Square, head toward Misty’s Gym, turn left just before the entrance, break the barrier over the hidden cave, then take the Decorative Dive Ball off the pedestal inside.

Reach the hidden room near Misty’s Gym

The route is short. The tricky part is remembering to turn off the main path before you walk into the gym, since the entrance to the secret room is easy to miss.

Start in the Town Square, the same open area you spawn into when you load the town.

Move right toward Misty’s Gym, following the stairs and pathways that lead up to the front entrance.
Just before you step into the gym, turn left. You’ll spot a blocked-off cave entrance tucked to the side.

Break the barrier covering the passage to open it up.

How to confirm you picked it up

When you grab it, the game shows a short pickup message that reads “You found someone’s hidden treasure!” followed by “It’s a decorative Dive Ball!” You’ll then have Decorative Dive Ball x1 added to your inventory.

The item itself is described as a small Poké Ball replica meant for collecting and displaying, so it counts as a decoration rather than a functional tool.

What the Decorative Dive Ball is for

The Decorative Dive Ball is one of the pieces needed for the Mermaid’s Gym habitat, listed as No. 036. Building this habitat is what spawns Starmie, so you’ll want the full collection of decorative Poké Balls before you can finish it.

Note: If you’re missing any of the decorative Poké Balls, you can recreate them with the Pokémon Center’s 3D printer. That requires taking a picture of the item in a friend’s game or on a cloud island first, which gives you a way to complete the set without hunting down every original.

Once the Decorative Dive Ball is in your bag, it stays there until you place it, so there’s no rush to build the Mermaid’s Gym right away. Collect the remaining balls, drop them onto the pedestals with the marine sofa, and Starmie will appear to round out the habitat.
